My issues are

Contempt of court is a civil offence not a criminal offence

3 other journalist also breached reporting restrictions outside Leeds court that day but none have been charged

He was arrested, tried by a court without being asked if he wanted to plead guilty or not guilty and in prison within 5 hours

No journalist has ever been sent to prison in the 70 years in which the law has been in existance

In HMP Only he was treated as a criminal prisioner and not a civil prisioner

He appealed the original conviction and there were so many processes that had not been followed and mistakes made by the original judge, the appeal judge had no alternative but to quash the conviction and release him from prison

A further 2 charges have been added to the original charge

A retrial has been ordered at the highest criminal court in the land for a civil offence despite the massive trial costs at the Old Bailey, how can that be in the public interest? Especially when he has already served time

As well as allocating the Old Bailey to hear the retrial, Judge Nicholas Hilliard (the most senior judge has been appointed to hear the case) so the senior judge at The Old Bailey has been allocated to a civil offence despite that today there where 3 Murder Trials, 1 Attempted Murder, 1 Manslaughter, 1 multiple sexual assault case and 5 Terrorism Trials

I’m assuming you know for a fact that it’s civil in this case? I haven’t a clue.

He was convicted under the name Steven Yaxley Lennon, on section 4 of contempt of court, a civil conviction. For some reason the Old Bailey posted the following

Court 2 at 10.30am Hearing in the case of the founder of the English Defence League, Tommy Robinson, who is accused of Contempt of Court after he allegedly broke reporting restrictions on a case.

Can’t imagine the family of the bloke who’s name he nicked being too chuffed at seeing his name being dragged through the mud like that

CPS contacted TR's solicitors and told them, if he pleaded guilty and apologised, he would get to go home today and the judge would dismiss the charges as 'time already served'

The charge TR faced at Leeds was for reporting on the second part of a three part grooming gang trial involving 29 men and 2 women. The reporting restrictions applied to part 2 were to prevent part 3 being prejudiced. The 10 in trial one have been convicted as have the 10 in trial two. Trial 3 involving the remaining 11 is currently underway. 

TR told his solicitors he refused to plead guilty so they passed the information onto the CPS last week.  So, TR gets in count today and enters a not guilty plea, the judge refused to proceed any further as TR would have had to give evidence about trial 2 which could affect trial 3. Case has been adjourned until 23rd October to allow the final trial to end and the jury enough time to reach a virdict.

Today's trial was a farce and should have been rearranged last week for the 23rd October or the judge at TR's trial could have dealt with it today and just imposed reporting restrictions

That photo was at the Free Tommy march on 14th July in London, it was not taken at the Old Bailey as I'm sure you knew. The knobhead doing the salute was doing it sarcastically as there was a group of Stand Up To Racism Misfits opposite chanting 'Nazi scum off our streets' He was subsequently arrrested but lets pretend that he represents all TR supporters
