Help With Mental Health Problems

My youngest has had problems with depression and has set up a website to try to help others

https://www.mindofourown.co.uk/

As a couple of people on here know it culminated in her trying to take her own life earlier this year as mentioned in the ‘My Story’ section of the site

I, and her, would be extremely grateful for any thoughts from WWayers on the website that she’s set up - concept, layout, any feedback really

As ever, I know that your feedback will be brutally honest and would expect no less. Be critical but please make it constructive

If any of you are suffering, or have suffered, from mental health problems, please do submit a story in order to get her site going, but more importantly to try to help others. But don’t feel pressured to do so if you’d rather not

Thanks all!!!!

As ever WWayers are ace. Thanks for the feedback so far - it really is appreciated   Rather than do a multi-quote post I'll just do this    Spider - she got a degree in Media/Mass Communication (e

It's very good. Don't quite know how but she could go somewhere with this? Mental health services in Manchester for kids/teenagers are pretty poor. Besides CAMHS were even if you're self harming you have to wait a few days to a week for help there's then 42nd street with a waiting list of a few months? Kids are desperate for input and there's hundreds of them. I've got none to little mental health training and I end up supporting some kids. I'm definitely not the best person to be doing it. My only worry is she'll need to monitor it, always that danger with mental health of people swapping ideas or falling into holes when they read other people's experiences, the good will far outweigh the bad though. I'm not at work next week but when I am I'll ask someone about it, might not come to anything but worth a try. I def second the Brian wilkie idea to get it out there.

Good luck with it all. People's attitudes have changed a lot on this. These things only help. I'm fortunate enough to not be able to add anything to the site.

I'm with Tomski on this, being lucky enough not to be able to add anything to the site, other than my very best wishes

Text from the youngest.......she really does appreciate all your feedback and ideas. WWays - always there in times need. Fookin ace!!!!!

“Got a reply off Graeme Fowler - hopefully his followers will see and be directed towards the website. I’ve also followed @adrianderby so will see if I get a response. I’m gonna have another look at the website and have a play about with the design, see if I can make it any better. Today I’m also setting up Google Keyword Tool which will drive a lot more people to the website (hopefully!) I’m also gonna send it to my old boss (the one from Lytham) and see if he has any tips. His brother suffers from bipolar so I think he’d be really interested. Gonna focus on Twitter now for the next few days - I’ll build a Twitter Ad Campaign to run sometime soon so I can build the following up. Good job I’ve got previous experiences with this so I know what I’m doing! Thanks for getting the feedback, appreciate it xxx”

Message from the youngest for you all.......

I didn’t realise that it was your BWFC Forum that you’d shared the link on, so thank you so much for doing that. Please pass on a message to everyone and tell them thank you so much for all their feedback regarding the website, it means a lot that people are taking time out to visit and are possibly going to submit their stories. I’ve taken a lot of comments on board and altered the layout so it’s easier for people to visit the website, and also followed and got in touch with everyone that’s been recommended for Twitter. It means a lot that people who don’t even know me are being so supportive. It’s something that I’ve worked day and night on for a while and knowing it could help people is all I’ve ever wanted, so thank you!!!!!! Bolton fans really are the best!!!!!

???????? we really are the best

Hope you don't mind but I've copied and posted up your post above on the Nuts site and also have tweeted about your daughters site on our Nuts twitter account - both in an attempt to give her more publicity for her worthy cause and hopefully to help anyone who may see it feel it is of benefit to them.

She's already acknowledged the tweet.

Thanks Casino and Sweep!!!

Sluffy - very much appreciated!!!

Not been home long. Stuck on M60 when they closed it due to "a vulnerable person on the bridge". People were actually ranting about the fact that they were being delayed yet knew what was going on. Maybe I'm over sensitive/aware now but fuck me there are some morons out there!!

There's a show on sky, think it's on the cricket channel about confidence and other mind stuff

Mind games, I think

Fowlers on that

Thanks casino I'll try to get it on catch up. Graeme Fowler has responded to her which was a great recommendation

She's been asked to do an interview on Tower FM regarding her site which I'm sure has come from here - not necessarily directly, but from all the twitter recommendations provided that she's taken up, that have spread the message, and credit to Sluffy as well for the stuff that he's done via Bolton Nuts

And alibob - thanks for the lovely message to her!!!!

Sorry for continuing to bump this thread up.........but then again, fuck it.......it means a lot more than I can ever express on here to say thank you for the help!!

Such a worthy cause mate... Bump away! I wish you and your daughter every best wish on your journey

Not a problem. I think her site is such a great idea.

Just like people sharing their experiences on here, it helps to realise you’re not alone.

Thanks for posting the site,

Having very recently lost my uncle to suicide, I havnt really been fully aware iof issues mental health and depression can cause. It’s a great ieebsite and one I’ll check in on frequently.

Think the difficulty we have is trying to understand reasons when you can’t ever find out answers it’s such a difficult thing to deal with.

More awareness the better,

Condolences on that sjm. Bad enough losing a relative any time.

Cheers I'll pm you in a bit

Only just seen this. site looks just fine, tiny issues with text and backgrounds but even then it's still readable .

This is what I do for a living for a so I've learned you'll never please everybody with how a site looks.

Important thing is make it easy to use and she's done a great job in that respect.

Also, and especially with a site like this, it is all about the content.

Tell her well done from me!!
