Mental Health/Depression

For those that questioned why I didn’t attend the game last Saturday, this was why. My daughter asked me to go to the Pride parade with her, have a few drinks, a meal, and generally have a catch up on her life and her website project. She doesn’t live with me so I don’t see her that often so face to face time is very valuable

I’ve highlighted one particular part of her social media post from today. That is a nod to WWays. She was stunned by the response from here. I thank all of you that contributed feedback once again for your support.......

As some of you may remember, a year ago I set up a website that allows people to submit and share their personal stories regarding mental health, encouraging people to use their voice and realise that they're not going through this alone.

The response I received was absolutely insane. That insane in fact, that I shut it down after a few months as I couldn't cope with managing the website alongside my own mental health.

But now I'm back 💥 I'm in a better place with my mental health, I'm currently in the process of purchasing my first home, and next week I start my dream job as a Teaching Assistant in a special educational needs school.

So I've decided to relaunch my project. A website where you can anonymously submit your mental health story, in the form of poetry, short stories, song lyrics, or simply anything that expresses you.

Read all 46 pages of this thread last night.  Rang doctors first thing this morning, and got GP appointment.  Now hooked up with referral to a couple of support services.  You don't know me, but

Our lass has been in Hozzy for a week now , 20 hours in a+e last week and been on an observation ward for 5 days so far. Had a couple of blood transfusions and shitloads of tests done so far but still none the wiser. Starting to panic it is summat more serious now. Don't half miss her at home.

Hopefully all turns out OK.

Sounds like they are doing a differential diagnosis. In other words the symptoms mean it could be one of a number of things. Rather than take a guess at the likely cause, treating that and finding it wasn't that at all, they go through a process of eliminating causes ie working backwards. Stressful for you and yours but means more likely they arrive at the correct diagnosis and she gets correctly treated

Kin ell. Are they keeping her in because of illness or just her levels are down?

Sounds like a nightmare mate. Had it with my dad recently. It's the not knowing that kills you.

She went in because her blood tests said she was severe anemic so they gave her blood transfusions but her levels are still dropping , they keep on about internal bleeding but haven't done scans as yet. they were talking about her own cells attacking her red blood cells . They are on about doing a bone marrow thing in her hip next. You are right mate not knowing is doing her head in , and mine.

Ifs it red on red, that could be an autoimmune thing my suffers. They take bone marrow to test for that kind of caper.

At least they seem they're on it pal.

Give her all our best and keep your head on x

Cheers mate.

Bought myself some loop earplugs, absolute game changer as it just keeps the din out and clears my head a little.

Had 4 weeks of agony.

So few days after Wembley had a summer cold, and then lost my hearing, everything started to sound like a drum next to my head, had some medication, and it felt like someone had stabbed me inside my ears, both eardrums perforated! 5 days of antibiotics, followed by 10 days of trying to clear my Eustachian tubes, and my ears started to hurt again.

Huge nose bleed (my first ever outside of the times I've broken my nose) and hearing has come back all muffled.

So a side effect is I considered these ear plugs to give my ears a rest from all the noise.. They're bloody great! Felt so much calmer with them in, and I can't even explain it. It only takes about 15dbs off the noise.

I've checked... it's the same distance and travelling time to Middlebrook, but probably end up at Whitby Town on Saturdays and away at Boro.

Finding enough stuff to do does bother me, I know myself too well and if I get too much time to dwell and sit around I start boozing.

All a bit sudden but with a view like this from my back gate I should be okay

I like Whitby. Did a field trip there with University in 94. Loads of great boozers for a start was my memory.

My condition has worsened over the past 18 months, I now cannot walk and have lost the use of my right arm and hand, no more bird houses to be made, in constant pain and I know depression is creeping in, I am at Salford Royal for 2 days a month for a 4 hour infusion, this is for the foreseeable future. Same as others I have a very large drink (Vodka and lemonade) every night which means I get about 4 -5 hours sleep. I have had adaptations made in the house which again is depressing, (the grandkids love the stairlift), my only pleasure now is Monday Club (pitch and toss night) and Thursday club when we put the world to rights, 3 pints is my limit because there is no disabled toilet in my local. I keep my season ticket but this coming season I have to go pitchside because I cannot get up the few steps to where my daughter and kids sit, I have had to stop going away matches as I hate being a burden to anyone. i will talk to someone eventually, just not ready yet.

Only just seen this, sorry for your struggles sir, but thank you for opening up about it and trusting those on here.

I found this week a lad who I was very good friends with in the 90s has passed away this week due the absolute cunt that is Cancer. Knocked me back more than I would have expected. Have not seen him for a few years at a wedding of a mutual friend who has been intensive care in the States last few weeks after a sudden liver failure and transplant. Just brings to mind that my generation is increasingly vulnerable so need to make the most of what we have now.

What a great thread this is, it’s amazing what some folk are going through and you’d of never thought it posting on here all these years. Good luck everyone, I wish you all the best
