  • Other benefits aren’t affected I think pal.    My place are saying to folk we will pay you the extra 20% if you burn a weeks holiday which is fair enough I think and gives folk the choice then

  • Can I request it because trying to work from home with 2 kids is giving me a stress induced heart attack!

  • Jesus Take the 80% and be fucking grateful that the system we pay into is coming to the party. It's not like we've all got weekends out/holidays/anything at all extra to pay for. It'll cover

Out

That's good for you. Hope it stays that way, and for Fiddy also.

Aye, surely if you were to take up a second job then you'd be taxed as if it was a second job. It's got nowt to do with you being furloughed by your primary employer has it?

The government are paying your wages so you can pay the bills. Not sure they will take kindly to folk then using the time to get another income on top.

They are paying your wages of your main job. If you were to take a secondary job then you'd be taxed like you would for a secondary job as normal. The only potential issue would surely be a possible breach of contract with your primary employer.

Plenty of people had two jobs before all of this. If they've been furloughed from one of their jobs they wouldn't have to give up the other.

Jesus

It's not like we've all got weekends out/holidays/anything at all extra to pay for. It'll cover your bills, and keep you in enough comfort to sit on your fucking sofa until this calms down.

I fail to see what else people expect. Entitled cunts we are at times. Me an all, by the way.

$1200 is what you’d get in in America.

Yep all looking positive

Oh aye, I agree. To get a secondary job now would be fucking stupid and Shirley just add to further risk of infection or transmission.

Just because morally it's not the right thing, doesn't mean it's not allowed.

Dollar bills y’all

Think the motivation behind my original question might have got lost but all the extra jobs in supermarkets and delivering food, who does them if we all sit on our couches?

Co-op filled and started 4000 out of the 4000 they wanted. Believe a lot of the roles have been filled from folk laid off and already unemployed before the 89% rule came in

And its greatly received in places like Alabama

Less so in LA and New York where it's half a months rent

So they're kicking off about that

In a country that big you can’t cast a net that wide to help everyone

That's a good news story that I hadn't seen with all that's going on, I'll get me ladders out and do the hall, stairs, and landing instead.

Heard the coop one on radio today and stuff around others earlier in week. Don’t get me wrong I know sainsburys are looking at recruiting even more folk than they first imagined pal so if it’s what you want to do I’m sure there is plenty of work still going. Just be careful before you start and find out for sure what the score is

I'm actively looking for some work on a self employed basis.

I don't really want to go and work within the PAYE system, as I'm fairly sure it'll fuck my SE grant up when it comes.

Anyone know how flexible the Furlough system is?

I'm a limited company.

If I've no work on - and go on the furlough leave - and then a client gets in touch with a project - if I'm keeping everything above board - will I be able to do the project (say one day) - and then go back onto furlough the next day? I don't get how this will work.

( I know I could secretly do the work and defer the invoice until this all finishes - which might be the sensible option - but if investigated it would be deemed as benefit fraud).

I cannot afford to not go on furlough on the off-chance that I may get projects. Its such a gamble.

ZK - what are you doing?

I'm carrying on - got work on, not as much as usual, but not working as many hours a day anyway

have no intention of not doing anything or looking to furlough myself

If I'm entitled to any hand outs further down the line, great - it'd go towards making up for the income I've lost, but it won't be full whack I as I go down the dividends route, might get £500 if I'm lucky

that's my stance this week, ask me again next week

The minimum time you can be furloughed to get a claim in is 3 weeks I think so you can't dip in and out.

Theres obvious reasons why taking the govt money should prevent me from working, but we could do with some flexibility

Even if its half a day a week

Ffs, at some point we will need to decide whether to re start

Thats going to take a fair bit of pkanning and conversations with suppliers and customers

Even they furlough at 80%, you should be able to do a day each week.

I’m still in work (service advisor) as we have to keep cars on the road for key workers. But our bosses still not turning away work that can wait. 😡

Some common sense needed here.

Plus having loads of people confused and HMRC staff potentially checking folk out isn't great for the cause.

That’s a point. 4 day’s paid by gov. 1 day you earn yourself. I like that thought process.
