Pasties

If there's any pastie better than a Carrs cheese and jalapeño I won't believe you. King of pasties they are.

No messing with them portions on Bury market proper dirty

My folks always had a fatty one with mustard. Preferred to go to the steamed spuds stall. Definitely get more into black pudding as you get older I reckon.

Lovely pal

get one from rammy they put apple or cranberry sauce on

It’s getting worse this 🤢 be eating Turkish fucking delight next

Only started liking black pudding in the last 10 years or so and even then I used to only eat it if I had beans or bacon or whatever on the fork at the same time.

Still nowhere near confident enough to just lob it in a huge pan of boiling water like my dad used to. Always made me boak just looking at it. Does it taste much different done that way rather than just frying slices?

I love black pudding but on its own. None of these filthy condiments

Gorgeous. Pool of butter at the bottom to rub your last spud in.

New potatoes are sensational- look forward to digging some up each year and eating them in this way- steamed and buttered.

Love Bury market black puddings, so tasty with a dollop of colman's mustard.

Casalingos black pudding starter is a proper treat

If i could replicate that sauce id have it every night

Stop it. Me and the missus often lament the absence of Jersey Royals down here.

Salted and buttered - beautiful. With bacon and the fat drizzled over, abolutely out of this world.

I miss the steamed black puddings at Smithills coaching house.  Lots of salt and a slather of mustard. French or English. Lovely

Yeah - used to work there as a student. Those black puddings were beautiful, best thing they did. The cheese pie was pretty good as well. Always miss that place when I go home.

Don't forget that black pudding is already cooked so can be eaten as is with no messing about, lad from Wigan introduced me to just buying one of the small puds and eating it straight from the skin years ago. Do prefer it grilled though.

I always have to tell southerners this fact, I don't like them grilled, they lose a lot of the flavour. Quick boil or steamed for me.

I used to live near Bennetts lane chippy years ago. No matter what i had from there,it never failed to give me the shits - even a bag o’ chips ffs.

The owner Dave was famous locally for his complimentary little bag of a couple of chips for the kids .

He'd probably get locked up for it these days.

Chip gravy lolli still get handed out.

Well, before all this covid anyway.

Mustard surely?

This isn't a local food thing but on a Saturday afternoon on occasion I treat myself to a pot noodle butty.

White toasty Warbys with loads of butter. Love it - but only the chicken one. I'm not a total animal.

Also love chicken soup poured over chips - thats a treat.

I think charlottes are as good as anything. Have a look for a few seed spuds and try a few in a tub. As an early they are ready first, and taste even better when freshly dug. Soil to gob, via the steamer in less than half an hour.
