Feck em. Quote
Nowack Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Always thought it worth driving the extra mile to Armstrong's rather than Carr's and alike. One of the few things I miss about Bolton. Quote
superjohnmcginlay Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Greenhalghs flakey pasty on a buttered barm and with a smothering of brown sauce. end of thread. Quote

Alf Hartigan Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Armstrong's pasties have gone shit, too big and stodgy, their meat pies are the best ever though. Keep meaning to try Hunter's, pass it every day. Quote
fatolive Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Dutsons bakery used to be better than all of them , but has closed now and changed into the latest fad of a desert shop. carrs at parties are a nightmare for heartburn Flour cake is the correct term, but alas barm has taken over. First time I heard barm as a kid was in Manchester in a cafe with my dad, didn’t know what they were about , now kids in Bolton probably don’t know what a flour cake is . better than calling them tea cakes like they do in Burnley though Quote
