The 2020 USA Presidential election

The eve of the maddest show in the world

Two senior citizens battling it out to become the most powerful person in the world

The most decisive election in years, which no matter the outcome, the whole country is anticipating civil unrest.

Yes folks the loonies are well and truly out of the Asylum

Forget the polls, forget what you think will happen one thing for sure is it’s always unpredictable and I cannot wait

Buckle up Dorothy

A tricky one. If they'd gone in hard at first and more had died or been hurt, then they make heroes of them and Trump gets an ego boost.

As it is, they look a ramshackle, destructive mob, and Trump is fucked over.

Shouldn't have been allowed to get so far though.

Not defending those who “broke” in but serious questions need to be asked about the policing/security outside of the building.

Make of this what you will

Almost as if they wanted them to breach the perimeter maybe?

So they could shoot them

In there defense, theirs what  6 officers ... easier to let them through , they had no idea what was to follow

Just seems odd that all round the world people were watching expecting trouble. Yet despite these people not just appearing out of thin air there seemed to be insufficient security there.

Capitol police chief is going to resign they are saying

Incredible that there is only 6 officers

You're right - it does seem odd.

It would be interesting to hear the official account of what decisions were made and why.

Cant disagree with you

Even in the video , the girl gets shot by someone the other side of the door, but there were armed police on the same side of the door as her, who, dropped to help her as said, but why were they stood allowing them to try and break the door?
appreciate it is only a short clip and they may have only just arrived or struggled to keep them back but it does look strange.

Not sure how it works over there but you would imagine an inquest and possible criminal charges against the chief of police for dereliction of duties given what the outcome ended up as with loss of life etc?

Has somebody instructed them to stand down and allow the breach to occur? Trump maybe?
Conspiracy tackle that I know but I can’t fathom it.

Right I will add some insight for you

The capitol police are a complete separate police force from the DC police ( this is by design) , so saying that the Mayor of DC  as no authority to send DC police on to Capitol grounds unless asked ( by which time it was late) , she cant even send in the national guards for the same reason

On a light hearted note the last time the Capitol build was breached was by the British and we burned it down in 1884

I think it's more likely that there's another barricade a bit further up the road and they're pulling back to a position that's easier to defend.

Either that or they've been asked to stand down so as not to inflame the situation (which didn't work) :)

Should have drafted in the Madrid police or South Yorkshire. Wouldn’t have happened on their watch that’s for sure

 watching it yesterday kept thinking how if they had worn Burberry caps instead of animal furs they would have been kettled and sent to Wetherspoons.

Aye. Stone island and CP and it would’ve kicked off hours early and they wouldn’t have got much further than the train station.  Lesson to be learned when going to away games. Wear daft animal skin hats and you can take liberties.

They had already broken through the 1st barricade. So it was either let them in or they break it down, no win situation.

On the one hand maybe they didn't actually think folk would actually try and storm the building

On the other maybe trump wanted them too

In any case it's hard to imagine someone would've said "get all the manpower we can to surround the building"

You sure? Given the circumstances I would say it’s the obvious thing to do

maybe one of our resident filth could answer this? I won’t name check them as some are incognito 🧐
