Has @Traf got you on commission?

It’s the new baby wreaking havoc.

Just take a breath, have a minute and think about all the 3am nappy changes you don’t have to do.

We’re booked for Cyprus for a wedding in the first week of September. Cracking deal via @Trafas always and just hoping there’s a bit of clarity by the time we’re past deposit-only time.

One for @Traf

Even if the UK nails the vaccines, what is travelling abroad likely to be like in terms of quarantine on return in August/Sept?

Assuming other countries will let us in, will we still have to isolate on return?

Is it worth booking anything abroad, basically?

I’m booked for two but not Greece at end of may which I booked months ago isn’t happening and deposit lost but only 150 quid. Thailand in December is happening though I won’t hear a word to the contrary.

May be wrong but the vaccine doesn't prevent onward transmission of Covid?

So for international travel to occur you'd need most of population of host country to be vaccinated too? And any other visitors to the same place similarly vaccinated?

They’re not certain either way yet. That takes time to prove I expect.

I’ll tell my excitable friend to start looking at camper vans.

Pretty sure we were told on thusday/friday that AZ is very high in preventing transmission

Last years greece is due mid june

Ill be vacced up by then

Theres no way greece will want to stop me coming, so im in the hands of our clowns

The NHS isnt getting overrun in the summer, so we should be good to go, imo

My only concern is paying good money for restrictions to still be in place

Supposed to be going away for a wedding in June.

I'm not confident. Especially if this covid hotel on return is still a thing.

Not booked owt other than Airbnb yet

Here's my take.

Get it booked with a travel agent that offers ABTA/ATOL protection.
If it's cancelled by somebody other than you, you get your money back or a future equivalent to what you've paid or more in some cases.

I don't envisage any overseas travel this side of May half-term.

I DO expect July school holidays to happen. The EU needs the money from tourism.

Vaccine stops you getting COVID
Masks, social distancing etc stop you spreading it

I can't see vaccination being a pre-requisite for travel, but you might still need a pre-travel COVID test.

Think that answers everything I've been asked recently.

What about stuff that isn't cancelled but you can't do any "isolate on return" type shit?

Also do you do flight only?

I don't think there'll be any isolate upon return come July.
You might need testing, though and I'd expect you to be able to get tested upon landing by then.
If you're positive you have to isolate anyway.

Flight Only?
Yeah, I do it reluctantly. There's no money in flight only and very few travel agents can compete with the bucket shops on skyscanner.

However, if it's a scheduled flight, we can often do it on a deposit basis, although we'll still be dearer than buying directly from the airline.

Got a delayed long weekend to Belgium booked with Traf from last year. Once that gets the go ahead then I’ll start thinking further ahead. Until then I’m not bothering depressing my self about where I might be able to go

Your money is still resting in my account sat in the trust bank account after we got it back from the airline & hotel.

You can have it back at any point if you need it, of course, otherwise I'll be re-booking you as soon as we know where we're at.

I've booked 2 months in SEA. I fly out on 1st Dec.

However unless they can get on with vaccinating their elderly then you may have to do 2 weeks in ASQ on arrival.

I am reasonably hopeful that this may not be necessary.

I know a few who have done it and its both torture and expensive.

Yeah I’m hoping it moves on but a lot of time for them to do so. I fly out 4th dec into Bangkok and then down to Phuket.

All being well, I'm off to Australia for 6 weeks, December/January and yes, I had a week in the Dominican Republic on my own a couple of years ago, loved it.

I am unsure at the moment but maybe.

I've just booked flights in and out of BKK, but am monitoring the situation elsewhere.

The lad is coming out too.

Its 60/40 for me at the moment, so i am hopeful we will be OK for December.

If you’re still in Bangkok on the 5th (unlikely I know) will catch up for a beer with you both.

i fly back on 22nd

I would love to go to Thailand but the missus is having non of it. All she associates it with is seedy bars and ladyboys. I don't see the issue myself 😁

My current plan is to be in BKK on the 5th, my last night there.

I am thinking of travelling down to Hua Hin the day after.

A beer sounds good.

Thanks for the offer but I am not sure the missus and kids would appreciate me blowing the annual holiday budget on a jolly boys to Bangkok 😄

Maybe when the kids are older and the wife has had enough of me I can go and experience all it has on offer.
