Suez Canal

There’s an almighty container ship wedged in the canal.

Guess who’s got a load of kit stuck on one of the ships stuck behind it?

Fucking nightmare.

But - how the fuck does a ship that weighs the same as Donald Trump’s first dump of the day get blown off course by a strong breeze? Who the fuck was driving it? Cunts.

You should have ordered enough stock, and already had it in your warehouse to cover this sort of eventuality -  poor planning on your part 😁

The pictures of it wedged in there are incredible, we've got a shit load of stuff sat on boats waiting to get past it as well, we've had some apparently re-route, but that apparently adds another 2 weeks on, which isn't ideal. We've also been hit with rising delivery times on electronic components as well, average manufacturing lead-times have gone from 8-10 weeks in Q3 2020, to 40+ weeks now - it's a proper shitstorm at the minute. There is a fuck load of money to be made though if you can find stock.

Just wait until it scrapes the side and billions worth of spoil spills out

I think I read that the price of oil has increased 6% based purely on this ship being wedged  - Brexit teething problems, Pandemic and now wedged boats, it's not going that well for some parts of British Industry thus far in 2021 is it

apparently it's because these days they pile the crates dead high to fit on as much as they can - the higher they stack the crates, the more susceptible it is to wind

also read 19k ships pass through a year, 52 a day, and it's a massive money spinner for Cairo / Egypt, so they want it shifting sharpish

Just sent wife into Greenhalghs in Westhoughton.

2 dinosaur pasties, 2 small meat and a meat & potato pie. £13odd, is that coz there is a boat stuck?

£20 next week.

I’ve passed through the canal A few times, I’m sure they charge $10 per tonne for each vessel to pass through.  Considering some of these bigger vessels weigh in excess of 200000 tonne it’s a good earner for the Egyptians

12-16% of global freight passes through the canal.

Egypt made $5.6bn in 2020 during a pandemic.

Quite right. Have you ever tried stuffing a dinosaur in a pastie. Right ballache

What’s the chance this is down to commercial piracy? As in a purposeful act to destabilise the economy.

Do the ships travel the canal under their own captaincy or do they get a pilot?

I'm sure there are already plenty of those conspiracy theory types already working out who or what could have caused this (other than it being an accident of course)

I don't know anything about boats, but I'd say fuck all when you look at the angle it's got stuck at

Did I hear correctly? I'm sure the news said it had 21,000 containers on board.

No real man needs anything from over there.

Overconsumption and consumerism is for wimmin.

We should desire nowt from the land of the yellow man.

Aside from those who need metal etc.

But we should have our own metal - not their shoddy crap.

Their metal is inferior.

The steel market is rocketing at the minute and its because the kitchen sinks are buying it all to build more containers.

They've seen the future, they’ve seen shipping costs going into the stratosphere due to a lack of containers and are sorting it.

Whilst we all piss about arguing over petty nationalism and trading blocs, they’re getting on with making sure they have a tighter grip on global commerce.

20 years, and this website will be censored by Maoists.

Just stick a load of sarin in rhino horns, bird gob and shark fins and send them over.

Be reet.

Surely there's a great opportunity to build containers in this country, we could get loads of apprentices doing that
