Meanwhile in Israel

Is it kicking off big time or is this just everyday stuff they deal with or a bit of both?

There could be another 120 next week!

She voted against the Govt as her view was that the 2 child cap should be removed.

There isn’t a blockade. Food and aid is going in. It’s being coordinated by COGAT and GHF. They took over it’s distribution because Hamas kept highjacking the UN controlled distribution and stealing the aid and food.

Yes. But unfortunately - they keep shooting and killing the people who arrive hoping to benefit from some of the food.

Which is always a slight drawback to any humanitarian effort.

For those people saying - are Hamas also to blame.

Yes - absolutely!

But Hamas are a proscribed terrorist organisation. It's bonkers to expect them to play by the same rules as Israel.

The key - as I've pointed out before is to flood Gaza with so much food and water that it eliminates the black market overnight.

We could do this - if we really wanted to.

But Israel have shown food going through. Granted they could be doing better hence why I won’t blame them solely. Which is exactly what you’re doing here 👍

Hamas are a terrorist organisation. I’ve written them off as having no morals. I’m sure we’re both on the same page there.

Israel on the other hand I thought was a principled, democratic country who I would hope (esp given history) know the rights from wrongs of persecuting and punishing innocent civilians. What food is getting through (no independent verification of course) clearly isn’t enough and/or getting to the right place. They have the ability if they so choose to take the moral high ground and fix this. They are choosing not to, hence (imho) that’s where the blame lies. Yes deal with Hamas but not as this cost.

It would be a win win wouldn’t it? Save the lives of kids and gain international support (and stop me moaning). Why wouldn’t they want to do that?

Easier to just blame Israel.

Thats an opinion. There are others.

Opinion ?

Israel have openly said they want to occupy Gaza permanently & for the Palestinians to be dispersed into other countries.

You’re just choosing to ignore that & call it by its real name.

He's not ignoring it. He just doesn't care.

I care as much as our government does. I’m not supplying them with the means to achieve whatever the Israelis want to achieve.

Seen this argument cropping up a lot lately. Seems an odd deflection.

It's pretty complex isn't it. Israel needs the support to defend itself from extremists and countries such as Iran. But it also shouldn't be that these weapons are used to ethnically cleanse Gaza and the West Bank.

I'd support the UK and US pausing it's weapon supplies until they agree to Palestinian sovereignty. But I fully support Israel being supported in the long run.

It's just odd seeing people on here using it as another excuse to defend them.

Folk just openly talking about ethnic cleansing now.

Not even trying to cover it up.

I'm also surprised that some people are surprised that there's been a surprising increase on the number of weapons supplied to a country when it's at war on multiple fronts.

When has Israel not been in this position?

I don't think Israel has been in a conflict on a scale like this since the 1982 Lebanon War - so 43 years ago.

Obviously they have had minor conflicts in the interim - but I'd argue nothing approaching this.

They’ve been at it pretty much forever! Their main focus has been on Gaza which apparently is suffering genocide/ethnic cleansing. Do we really need to keep supplying weapons to a country that is doing this? Other countries have stopped supplying yet we are giving more than ever.

You're asking the wrong man 😁 I think we should have stopped supplying arms to Israel the moment we properly began to understand the level of carnage amongst the civilian population in Gaza.

It's constant and you know this. Constant threat of attack.

It is why they are like they are. Formidable.

Yes I understand that and I'm not disputing it. What I'm saying is that they will have dramatically increased the amount of arms they need to buy over the past 12 months or so. Hence why the total figure of arms exports to Israel has increased.

Same way as Ukraine will have.

I don't feel like I'm saying anything terribly controversial here, am I? 😁
