  • And as for this tiresome bollocks about pathways in our last two tournaments, do people not realise theres a reason we got those pathways? We avoided groups of death becasue we won every single game i

  • Fuck me we lose one game without a full strength team against a team of shit houses who shithoused themselves half way through the last tournament and the knives are out. It was just one of them

  • Biggest cheers tonight were for the paper planes hitting the pitch. I’ve also learned that being close to Wembley as the crow flies means fuck all when it comes to the tube!   Anyway, 9th/10

There were 5 number 10s he could pick from. He's never taking 5 so had to chop it down. Foden and Palmer have had poor seasons. I'm personally more surprised MGW hasn't made it.

I'd have had Maguire over Burn and would have loved Wharton in the squad.

Aye, wouldn't disagree, but I don't get all the hoo-ha.

Manager should pick his squad, and set the team up how he wants.

Be true to himself.

If it doesn't work, then he's no different to all the other England managers, bar one.

If it does, then great.

I don't always agree with SS selections and subs, but still get behind them come what may.

listened to TT's interview before, thought he came across well tbf

I thought he was trying to say we may have a couple of bad eggs in the camp, and tbh, it wouldn't shock me if trent and palmer we're sulky little bastards

His line about selcting a squad that was "ready and committed to the idea of team spirit and being unselfish" seemed a bit revealing

That's one way of looking at it. The other is that Trent and Palmer have shown themselves to be genuinely world class players. Livramento & Madueke might be chuffed to sit on the bench and play table tennis travelling across the US, but maybe that mentality is also why they aren't as good?

It's definitely his squad now though so it'll either work spectacularly or he'll be glad he negotiated that extension.

Aye. Got to agree overall with that

We’ve had a season on here questioning SS but we are at Wembley on Sunday. He sees what we don’t. Same applies I suppose to Tuchel

As @Lt. Aldo Raine says Tuchel’s comment was quite revealing. He’s seen stuff that we havent

Still surprised about Maguire though in particular but hey ho

Southgate took us up a level breaking down that notion that you had to pick the “big” players from the “big” clubs (the Gerrard/Lampard/Scholes issue). Maybe Tuchel is another level up?

Who knows? F all we can do about it other than hope

How refreshing. Top work TT. Don't listen to all the 'expert pundits' and terrace supercoaches.

Be your own man and live or die by your decisions.

Even though I don't think we'll win it, we will go far.

I admire his strength of spirit.

Happy to pursue his own ideas, despite the obvious brickbats he will receive for doing so.

Back to your speech by the American coach.

I would have liked to see Gibbs White and maybe Leeds' ex Evertonian front man, as an alternative option. Palmer too as he has that touch of brilliance.

Nevertheless, its not crime of the century, and I won't be losing sleep over it.

We've got around 3 weeks until the first game iirc- no time for over analysis- just get the preparation done and be ready.

Maguire is a liability at times

One decent season doesn’t make up for it.

I’d still have picked him over Burn, & whilst I totally get he’ll be devastated- he needs to get a grip & stop being so whingy.

Getting your family to pipe up & have a go at the manager before the WC has even started is just ridiculous. Needs to show some respect

No way we’re coming away with the trophy by the way. But it won’t be because we didn’t take Harry fucking Maguire 😂

I totally agree that he should be his own man although it does slightly come across as though TT is sort of trying to make a point of his own in excluding some seriously talented potential game changers and replacing them with less talented players who he feels are more committed. I’d have thought that it was his job to handle egos and motivate them to do their jobs rather than just dumping them, but I’m glad he kept Bellingham who was out of favour at least.

I just question some of the inclusions like Kobbie Mainoo for example when we already have Rice, Bellingham Henderson and Anderson to run midfield - and I can see a bigger upside to putting Palmer and Foden on the bench, even if they don’t start.

If TT is trying to show them who is boss, he’s succeeded, but there’s a whiff of throwing the baby out with the bath water about it - and maybe that comes back to Tuchel’s own ego?

Maguire posting a look at me statement before the official squad was released publicly might hint at one of the reasons he wasn't picked.

I'm not sure he got his family to make posts.

He made his own after all.

They all need to think beforehand, and not go rushing to the keyboard.

Surprisingly short names they've all got

Seems pretty clear they’re all on the same page

Express your upset by all means, but just wish the boys & the manager the best & move on.

Pathetic stuff really - not sure who he thinks he is

We are all wasting our time discussing this really.

The proof of the pudding will be in the eating and my suspicion is that TT will not end up looking like a bit of a pudding. I also suspect that there may be a few humble pie eaters on here.

Opposite end of the scale from that waistcoated wanker is TT.

aye, even though i was surprised by some of the seletions / omissions, at least he's come out and given a perfectly understandable explanation for it, and appears more than confident he has done the right thing by the squad.

so go for it.

I doubt we'll win it, but barring any embarrasments or total no shows by those who play, I don't think anyone will be in a position to say "see, i told you he should've took Maguire / Palmer / Gibbs-White etc when we do exit the tournament at whatever point

Meanwhile on Harry Kane watch...

That shot he hits off the post/bar/angle just before his second is incredible.

Be surprised if anyone on here isn't pleased that he moved to Bayern.

All those fruitless years at WHL and now he's harvesting medals every season.
