Yorkshire County Cricket Club

They seem to have got themselves into a bit of a pickle. The daft racist cunts.

Don't give the fucker anymore airtime, he's a loon this fella and I'm not sure what he's trying to gain here ...... except compo!

But but but he’s exposed cricket as a sordid nest of racism, bullying and out dated attitudes.

But but but.

What has been exposed is that cricket has an underlying problem which really needs sorting.  It is damaging to Rafiq personally that he has also been exposed for anti-Semitic social media posts but it should not suppress the investigation required and change needed in the game.

Yep, and it's a bit sad to see some of the gloating on here and twitter. Shows there are still issues to be discussed, and not just in cricket.

Gloating because someone who has outed a former friend as an alleged cunt is himself a major hairy clopper! We've seen & heard it all before by his ilk & I don't care whether he is black, white or blue with a yellow border. He's a massive attention seeking, compo grabbing hypocrite.

Lets agree to disagree then, I believe there is a wider issue here. Some don't. Some are gloating. I'm not that bothered, in all honesty.

Yes there is a bigger picture, which will only be damaged by dodgy duplicitous chancers like this mon trying his luck for a quick buck.

I also think this is probably the correct response;

Co-Chief Exec of Jewish Leadership Council Claudia Mendoza said: "There’s no doubt that this is massively awkward for Azeem Rafiq but he’s taken full ownership, apologised, and undoubtedly - through his own experiences - learnt a lot about racism since then."

Took full ownership after he is outed.. fuck him & his compo claim.

Mounts, no offense like, but organisations only pay compensation when found to be in the wrong, what is also interesting is that there is no gagging order on his claim as well, so its not paid out to shut him up.

Also, give the paper linked a little scan, you might find it interesting.

This.

No doubt some things need addressing, but, as we can see by his own actions and comments, no body is perfect. We all say things that might not be the wisest, even if you don't realise at the time.

It's the constant seeking for granular detail, the lack of understanding (or ignoring) human nature to label everything in black and white terms, that is counterproductive.

Life just isn't like that, shades of grey everywhere.

Rafiq has now partly damaged this whole investigation and legitimate issues that he's raised, as inevitably it will all get mashed up in the "cunt off".

Credibility zero.

The thing that annoys me most about this is the accusation that Cricket has a problem with racism. It is no more institutionally racist than any other sport. In my opinion and experience, it’s one of the most diverse sports going. Largely due to the sports popularity in the commonwealth countries.
Back in 1970 when I first went to Old Trafford to watch Lancashire, we had Clive Lloyd and Farokh Engineer (I’ve been to his house to discuss a potential television programme for  Indian TV. I’ll explain another day) playing for us.
Many other Counties also had overseas players in their teams. More than any sport. Certainly football. That has continued to this day.
One man’s testimony has tarred a great sport. One man who’s proven to be both a liar, racist, sex pest and Anti Semitic. This is the ‘big picture’

The class issue in cricket far outweighs any other.

Class Issue? Have you ever been to Farnworth CC?

Seriously, what do you mean?

Edit. I’m a member of Farnworth CC.

My old gaffer played for Darcy Lever. He told me the following:

A while back they applied for lottery/sport England money, to improve ground/facilities etc.

Instead another club was created next door with an award that DL didn't get.

Bolton Indians sports club.

I've been and used their facilities and it seems a decent place.

However, is this really the way to promote diversity and inclusivity?

DL an established club, alongside many others with a history of bringing players from all over the world to play alongside our own. Seems that got ignored.

I hope when cricket looks at itself such things are included, but I doubt it.

Not sure about that. Maybe the members section at Lords is high brow, but generally speaking, good players succeed irrespective of background.

Higher up at county level, class is a bigger issue than race going off many different accounts from ex cricketers on the wireless this week, as well as reading a few books myself.

Darren Gough and a few others were on about it this week.

That is outlined in the paper regarding SA cricketers as well.

As the study shows there are significant barriers and to deny that is just ignoring the true facts.

No doubt there is some, however I do wonder if some players just perceive there is an issue because they're from a different background than officials within the club.

Some inverted snobbery perhaps- it cuts both ways.

Look at Englands most successful players. A mix of people from all sorts of backgrounds. Botham, Anderson, Gower, Ali, Pieterson, D’Olivera, Archer. (Just ones that came to mind)
The problem with grassroots cricket is that it tends to me mainly played at ‘better’ schools. Probably where the claim comes from. Had the same problem when I and my lads were younger.

What the schools don’t offer, local cricket clubs do. Bolton is lucky with the number of clubs that encourage young people to get into the game.
Many towns/city’s do the same.

Ive never encountered any class issues.

I suspect you know absolutely nothing about cricket.

I suspect you know absolutely nothing about the wider societal implications endemic in institutional power structures and the effect on individual progression from those outside this.

Or you're demonstrating an illiteracy of such things on this thread.

Anyway, give the paper a read, I'm just quoting that and that fella does know his bat and balls.

Drop him an email, perhaps you can tell him where he's gone wrong in his academic research?

As I said YOU know nothing about cricket.

Just read the paper my forthright friend, I'm sure your input would be invaluable.

Or don't.

I'm not bothered in the slightest, I have no dog in this fight.

There’s only one dog in this fight and he’s a dirty racist one. And he’s also a Pakistani masquerading as an Englishman 😎
