I am mixed race so that’s fine with me, so is black and I think the majority of blacks 😁would. 
Been a long time since I’ve been referred to as half caste, or even heard it for that matter but my mam says it and she’s fully Jamaican.  
I can’t honestly say I would be bothered about hearing any term it’s about the context.

I think about ethic background groups on medical forms is by a rule of thumb to follow to not cause ‘offence’

I can’t remember who it was on who referred to someone as oriental and got a bit of a telling off at work. I’d use Asian but I wasn’t aware oriental was offensive.

I was in a meeting a couple of years ago, and one of the sales team referred to one of our suppliers as a "bunch of arrogant chinks" which made me laugh, a lot. I dread to think what would happen if such a term was used now

It was me who got told off. Working for a Japanese company that employs folk in the head office from various Far Eastern countries I was actually trying to avoid causing offence 😀

Bloke who used to work for me his parents were from Sierra Leone. Asked him how he would want to be described if one parent was white and he said black. He thought the term mixed race was offensive. Shows what a minefield it can be

On a separate note, years ago I came off my mountain back up in Rivi and broke my scaphoid bone but it couldn’t be confirmed on X-Ray. Nearly fell off my chair when the nurse sent me to have a “half-cast” put on my wrist 😳
