jmjhb Posted July 4, 2025 Posted July 4, 2025 Make that 6! Hopefully this sort of lopsided scorecard never happens again Quote

Traf Posted July 4, 2025 Posted July 4, 2025 Shambles today, Brook & Smith aside. 84-5 and then 20-5 either side of their 303 stand. Quote

The spinner ain’t great and the pace bowlers never look like blowing an upper order away. Maybe if a couple of injuries clear up and Wood and Archer return it might be different. Watching today had me thinking is Stokes so fixated on chasing because he does not think we can bowl teams out ? Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 5, 2025 Posted July 5, 2025 Pitches are batter friendly at the moment. In the first test India couldn't bowl us out twice. Reckon they will this time, but a draw is possible. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 6, 2025 Posted July 6, 2025 Needed to make a better fist of that. Drawing should have been a big challenge to them- as much as winning the previous test with a fine chase.  Quote

Turgid stuff that. Great spell by Archer and Stokes was very good too. Real lack of depth beyond them. Need Wood back and Woakes probably needs to step down a level. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Hang on, we're playing one of the best teams around, on "non-English" wickets. Not going to be a thrill a minute, but it's good to see a bit more grit, rather than the weak finish in the last game. Shown a more circumspect approach, which is fine if it gives us more of a chance of victory. Quote

He’s struggled this series. Been a big fan of his but sense his time at this level might be ending. And Lords was like a friggin sauna today! So I was cranky! Quote
Ani Posted July 13, 2025 Posted July 13, 2025 (edited) Zac Crawley needs a break. I get you can replace a wicket keeper with an external injury, but if he then bats for 121 balls in next innings not sure it is fair that he can still be replaced in second innings as well, especially when it works against England. And then be allowed to bat in second innings. Edited July 13, 2025 by Ani Quote

Lt. Aldo Raine Posted July 13, 2025 Posted July 13, 2025 It's been a fascinating test match so far If we can break the Pant-Rahul partnership early, we should be firm favourites It really feels that the Pant saga has further to run Quote
Underpants Posted July 13, 2025 Posted July 13, 2025 (edited) Great day and cracking end. India still very much in the box seat. Theirs to lose. Edited July 13, 2025 by Underpants Quote

Can understand the initial substitution, but, as Ani says, being allowed to be subbed again, after batting, "just isn't cricket". Maybe he shouldn't be allowed to bat for a second time. Quote
