It'd have been cracking weather for some Test cricket this weekend

Certainly would and I know where you’re coming from. It was only the third Test in the series as well.

Great memories - I was lucky to be there that day.

It won't capture the highs of Reading at Wembley, Hull on a Friday or drawing in Madrid, but probably the top sporting moment I have ever attended.

50 overs is 300 balls not 100!

Poor show.

I've just been watching it, that's been a really poor effort there. Second lowest score ever against SA in England, apparently

Very interesting listening to the ECB guy at the break

Atherton was quite tough in his questioning, but if the ECB, as claimed, have made a billion from The Hundred, its going nowhere

shame it was a dead rubber

still haven't decided about Friday night yet, gonna check weather tomorrow / tues

Nevertheless, it was vital, after the drubbing in the first game, that they showed what they can do, and that they can compete.

That isn't a question for me, we know they can, the issue is a lack of consistency

Privileged to have seen 3 great batting performances this week from Lancashire players.  Livingstone last Saturday, Buttler and then Salt today.
I remember Lancs when they were known as the ‘One day kings’

If it wasn’t for the fragmented schedule and system we have today, we’d take back that crown.
Looking forward to tomorrow. I know it’s an England thread but it didn’t seem like it tonight.😊

I’ll stick this here as I mentioned it last night. Lucky enough to witness these fine fellows on tv and at OT. (I actually got to know Farokh through work)

Jack Bond was from Bolton and lived on Green Lane.

“Jack Bond led Lancashire for five seasons during which time they finished third in the championship in 1970 and 1971. They also achieved a hat-trick of Gillette Cup wins (1970-72) and consecutive Sunday League titles in 1969 & 1970.

The signing of overseas stars Farokh Engineer from India and West Indies’ Clive Lloyd helped Lancashire to be recognised as one of the best one-day and fielding sides the game had seen. Lancashire had some fine players who were coming to their peaks but more importantly they played well together as a team.”
