Doesn't look good that.

Watched the clip of him getting hit- serves him right for being smart arse! 🤣

😊

It’s the way he plays. That’s why it looked innocuous. Some say he’ll be out for the series. He’s a tough old boot though so who knows. Hope he recovers soon, I like watching him play.

Am there on Saturday with eldest daughter. Looking forward to it. That injury could/should be crucial

For years she’s disappointed me with her waning interest in BWFC but every Test series at OT she gets us tickets upper tier at long on at The Statham End (my favourite view) so is forgiven :D

Now officially called the Sir Clive Lloyd/Farokh Engineer stand. 👍

Watching Root from afar today and wondering who the greatest British sportsperson of all time would be.

I’m 47 so difficult to consider before my lifetime. Murray always been up there for me, Mo Farah, Lewis Hamilton. Shouts for McIlroy, McCoy, Redgrave. Any others? Sullivan and Phil Taylor depending where your tastes in sports lie. I’m sure there’s plenty pre 1990 that I’ve missed / forgotten about.

But Root surely has to be up there. The longevity of what he’s done alongside carrying himself with complete class at all times. A true great!

In terms of winning things, then more of our Olympic champions must be on the top rank.

Thompson, the rowers, Ennis, the cyclists, etc etc. Loads to choose from.

In terms of long term contributions to their sport then Murray has been magnificent, both on and off the court.

Rory, and the other Ryder cup guys have brought superb entertainment.

Torvill and Dean- a world apart.

Impossible this. :)

Yep. And our own tastes in sport would undoubtedly affect it. Olympic sports sometimes overlooked as they’re once every 4 years, but doesn’t detract from the work they do in between that we don’t see.

Anyway. I’m going Murray number 1. Genuinely feel he eeked out every last ounce of talent he had in the most incredible sporting era.

Root top 10, but maybe top 3 when the 2027 Ashes come around!

Aye, making the absolute most of himself through sheer determination is magnificent.

It's easy to miss the incredible determination and sacrifice these athletes undergo.

I like watching the Mountain Biking run video of Danny Hart, where the commentator goes ballistic over the rider's ability and "balls". An amazing watch.

The skill required to descend such terrain at "warp-speed". Mental.

I ‘think’ I’ve seen that but will check it out over the weekend.

Why?

Shooting, archery or worm charming- they all require skill! 😁

Because the bigger the sport, the more people participate in it, and the more people who participate in it, the more likely the best players are to be the most naturally able of anyone in the world
