The one pro I'm currently in contact with rates Lee as the best player he's ever played with

  • My lad took this ๐Ÿ’™ COYWM

  • Evatt makes mistakes, usually when he opens his gob, but by fuck heโ€™s a quick learner. Last season, we lose that game and probably only have 10 men on the pitch at the end. But heโ€™s graduall

With 5 subs per game, half the starting XI might play 70mins or less.

The best players win you more games and will play more minutes as a general rule of thumb.ย

And win games earlier, and then get rested ready to go again.

Especially with the strength in depth we have currently.

I honestly dont know why you entertain him

He has previous for being faced with overwhelming evidence and la la la ing his way through it

Think the overwhelming evidence is Lee is being played selectively and cautiously, as proven by the minutes heโ€™s played, isnโ€™t a guaranteed starter, never been premier league quality and is being employed mainly at home and MJ should of started at Plymouth.

Other than that heโ€™s a good squad player and useful when utilised in the right games for a limited number of minutes. ย

And thatโ€™s exactly how Evatt is utilising Lee.ย

Eh?

He's started three of our four away matches in the league - compared to two out of five at home - and only eight players (one of which is our goalkeeper and another the club captain) in our squad have played more minutes than he has this season.

I agree with you that he needs to be managed more than most (although not because he doesn't have the engine to get through ninety minutes) and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up playing fewer minutes than the other midfielders come the end of the season but the statistics so far show the opposite of what you're claiming.

Lee gets brought off in games / rotated in the main because of his injury record - Evatt doesnโ€™t want to push him too far and lose him for a chunk of the season, because heโ€™s so good and important to us. Itโ€™s nothing to do with his โ€˜engineโ€™.

Read Evattโ€™s recent comments on him if you want to see how highly he rates him, the guy is class.

Yebbut, heโ€™s 34!!!

Lee strikes me as being one of those players who is 2 or 3 moves in front of everyone else.

A class act.

I think he will be used more at home and against the teams with less physicality, certain games away from home I think Evatt will go with a more solid set of players, perhaps bringing Lee on to influence the game when the game opens up. After the first 2 games Lee has played only 227 minutes of the 630 he could of played. ย ย

You might be right but it hasn't happened so far as you claimed.

For what it's worth, in our last four league matches he's played 240 out of 360 minutes, which is more than most.

Iโ€™ve said I see him playing 60-70 minutes rarely 90 minutes and with frequent games where he does not get any game time and thatโ€™s how heโ€™s being used. Isnโ€™t that the case at the moment?ย

Suggesting Lee is just a bit part player is laughable

Beyond traf, bradley, santos and possibly charles and jones, its guesswork who will start - lee would start every week if his body allowed imo

It shows how quick things change, though, as id have had dapo and morley in my must picks

As for stats, he didnt play in our only home defeat

Just saying

Heโ€™s not played 90 minutes since Plymouth, that doesnโ€™t surprise me. No one says heโ€™s a bit part player but some folk reckon heโ€™s a regular starter and can last 90 minutes, Evatt doesnโ€™t think so, thatโ€™s not because of a lack of ability but as you say because his body isnโ€™t up to it.ย

You claimed he is being used more often at home than away, which hasn't been the case so far, and seemed to imply he's played fewer minutes than the other midfielders, which again the statistics so far prove otherwise.

He's playing 70/80 minutes currently but then so are a lot of our players. I think what people are taking issue with is your suggestion that he's being brought off early because he doesn't have the "engine" to play ninety minutes, rather than because we have good strength in depth, can make five substitutions and his injury record is poor.

His aerobic fitness is fine and if we needed him to play the full ninety minutes in any given match, he could.

Like at plymouth

When we lost

Just saying

Maybe it proves that Evatt takes the chance to rest him if we arent struggling or if we have better options

So, not only should Lee not have played, he did the 90

How odd

I canโ€™t carry on this debate, Iโ€™m sure that people arenโ€™t watching the same games that I am.ย

He canโ€™t play 90 minutes on a regular his body/engine canโ€™t cope with it, take issue if you wish but itโ€™s why heโ€™s not playing the 90 and his game time is managed accordingly. Itโ€™s no disgrace at his age when our game is all about the high press.ย

No one is saying he canโ€™t play, just that heโ€™s going to need more rest and recuperation than other younger players and that Evatt will pick and chose games where he thinks he can make most impact.ย

Has anything been said about Iredale being injured, he was limping badly when he walked off at the end?
