Think the overwhelming evidence is Lee is being played selectively and cautiously, as proven by the minutes he’s played, isn’t a guaranteed starter, never been premier league quality and is being employed mainly at home and MJ should of started at Plymouth.

Other than that he’s a good squad player and useful when utilised in the right games for a limited number of minutes.

And that’s exactly how Evatt is utilising Lee.

Eh?

He's started three of our four away matches in the league - compared to two out of five at home - and only eight players (one of which is our goalkeeper and another the club captain) in our squad have played more minutes than he has this season.

I agree with you that he needs to be managed more than most (although not because he doesn't have the engine to get through ninety minutes) and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up playing fewer minutes than the other midfielders come the end of the season but the statistics so far show the opposite of what you're claiming.

Lee gets brought off in games / rotated in the main because of his injury record - Evatt doesn’t want to push him too far and lose him for a chunk of the season, because he’s so good and important to us. It’s nothing to do with his ‘engine’.

Read Evatt’s recent comments on him if you want to see how highly he rates him, the guy is class.

I think he will be used more at home and against the teams with less physicality, certain games away from home I think Evatt will go with a more solid set of players, perhaps bringing Lee on to influence the game when the game opens up. After the first 2 games Lee has played only 227 minutes of the 630 he could of played.

You might be right but it hasn't happened so far as you claimed.

For what it's worth, in our last four league matches he's played 240 out of 360 minutes, which is more than most.

I’ve said I see him playing 60-70 minutes rarely 90 minutes and with frequent games where he does not get any game time and that’s how he’s being used. Isn’t that the case at the moment?

Suggesting Lee is just a bit part player is laughable

Beyond traf, bradley, santos and possibly charles and jones, its guesswork who will start - lee would start every week if his body allowed imo

It shows how quick things change, though, as id have had dapo and morley in my must picks

He’s not played 90 minutes since Plymouth, that doesn’t surprise me. No one says he’s a bit part player but some folk reckon he’s a regular starter and can last 90 minutes, Evatt doesn’t think so, that’s not because of a lack of ability but as you say because his body isn’t up to it.

You claimed he is being used more often at home than away, which hasn't been the case so far, and seemed to imply he's played fewer minutes than the other midfielders, which again the statistics so far prove otherwise.

He's playing 70/80 minutes currently but then so are a lot of our players. I think what people are taking issue with is your suggestion that he's being brought off early because he doesn't have the "engine" to play ninety minutes, rather than because we have good strength in depth, can make five substitutions and his injury record is poor.

His aerobic fitness is fine and if we needed him to play the full ninety minutes in any given match, he could.

Maybe it proves that Evatt takes the chance to rest him if we arent struggling or if we have better options

So, not only should Lee not have played, he did the 90

How odd

He can’t play 90 minutes on a regular his body/engine can’t cope with it, take issue if you wish but it’s why he’s not playing the 90 and his game time is managed accordingly. It’s no disgrace at his age when our game is all about the high press.

I can’t carry on this debate, I’m sure that people aren’t watching the same games that I am.

No one is saying he can’t play, just that he’s going to need more rest and recuperation than other younger players and that Evatt will pick and chose games where he thinks he can make most impact.
