Not just my experience but plenty I know down here spread all over the country (mainly WA, NSW, Qld and Vic) have experienced the same thing. The missus.

They never cut the apron strings. Mother and sisters are like an irresistible magnet to them. Took 7 years before my missus finally referred to here as 'home'.

I had a mate from Sale who had a business based only on repatriating unsettled Brits. One from Oldham did it four times before finally setting here in a place called Australind. Still tells me that his missus "cost me a fucking fortune" when I catch up with him now and again.

On a slightly different note, you wouldn't believe how many folk I know who have originally gone to Queensland but relocate to WA as they can't stand the humidity. Four in our scooter club alone. It's a common theme.

Everything is better in WA in my opinion. Opportunity, climate, standard of living.

Obviously family considerations in your case are the driver.

Interesting using that phrase given the tenor of the post since it was first ever used in Tenant of Wildfell Hall, one of the earliest recognised examples of Feminist literature in the context of one of the layabout blokes in the novel.

I'd be absolutely amazed/horrified if people with untreated TB are being allowed to walk around in public.

The guidance is that you're required to self isolate until 2 weeks after treatment has started and then (providing all your markers are moving in the right direction) you are reassessed and may be allowed to break isolation. I would imagine that immigration are hyper vigilant for this type of thing.

It's the ones bypassing immigration services If be concerned about.

The bigger problem is UK citizens travelling to high risk locations abroad unvaccinated and then bringing the diseases back with them.

In January I had a bad cough, Coughing up green aliens for about 3 months. Also when waking up I was absolutely drenched.Went doctors who said he can't give me anything because it was a virus.Just had blood test and been told it is showing I've had or got TB but they say it is low level so now I'm awaiting for a meeting with a consultant but they've told me to carry on as normal

Why did you wait 3 months? 3 weeks max for something like that surely Jeff?

I didn't I went in January. It only came up in a recent blood test for something else.To be honest the doctor I saw in January gave me the impression he didn't give a fuck but to be told now it looks like it was TB is a bit concerning

Heard a tale this morning about a doctor/nurse type vaccinating migrants in hotels for tb, with some apparently with the illness being free to walk about.

Not sure how accurate that is, but a quick glance says that upon arrival, they're offered a health check and subsequent treatment as required.

Makes sense, except that I can't find any reference to it being compulsory.

So it does seem quite possible that infected people are allowed into the wider communities.

I wonder what the crack is with Covid vaccines? We as a country did an amazing job getting a large percentage vaccinated and now we are Letting 10s of Thousands in who (more than likely) aren’t.

Ah OK. I had a bastard of one many years back. Thought I was getting over it and went up to the pike Good Friday carrying the baby in a carrier on my back. Overdid it and spent the next 2 days in bed and the GP thought I had TB. But when I saw the consultant after a chest XRay it was pneumonia.

TB is thankfully very rare still.

As I said, within the details I've read, there was nothing that said it is compulsory.

It may be, but I couldn't find it.

The story supposedly came from someone undertaking the work at hotels. Obviously, they're not going to reveal their identity.

Therefore not concrete, but possible.

I mentioned the other day about some arrivals gaining a care visa to work in that sector had supposedly disappeared from those roles.

150,000 apparently- from the government's own information. Reported by the Telegraph, so will obviously be inaccurate.

An independent Horwich councillor was on the news last explaining that the number of HMOs in the ward had gone from somewhere over a hundred to over 720. Funded by serco.

The council has had to use powers to force folk using permitted development to undertake these conversions, to go through the planning process. Still may get them through.

That is a large number of family homes no longer available to rent/buy for local people, which in turn increases rents/prices and changes the demographics.

The immigration system is beyond fucked.

Oh, and in the last two days, the best of a thousand more have joined the happy throng.

And there's been a big car accident just up Belmont Road from you.

Enjoy 😉

'The wrong type.'

Aye ok then. Its this sort of narrative that divates the discussion

As I said no one is dismissing there are issues, but its the way 'ive seen this, so it's all true' bollocks gets taken on board by so many. You are blaming one thing for a plethora of issues, and in that way its just too simple and narrow a focus. Its also why Populists get away with conning the public.

Anyway, you have your truth, im just simply asking for a wider acknowledgement of the vast range of social ills in the poorer parts of the country, rather than we've got the wrong immigrants.

That's absolute bullshit and couldn't be any further from what I'm saying.

I think I've been pretty clear on it.

You honestly could not be more wrong and so entrapped in your own little utopian world that you cannot see what's happening. Even your best pal Kent explained what he could see the other but you refuse to accept it.

So blinded and a complete fool.

I'd guess that they're less worried about covid now, and that TB and measles would be more of a concern.

Keep protecting the elderly and at risk with covid jabs clearly, but the vast majority of us don't qualify any more.

I've had the chest x-ray and they think my lungs are clear but I've got to wait until end of September to see consultant to be certain and then they reckon 3 months of antibiotics

Forget what you have seen- you've been conned by a populist.

The guys that repeatedly call for facts don't seem like it when you relate your own factual observations.

If issues with poverty are so entwined within it, then surely the huge numbers of migrants wouldn't be being thrust into areas already suffering?

An observation I've made is that "populism" gains traction when politicians and commentators loose sight of the bleeding obvious, and ignore the concerns, and needs of those the purport to represent.

When that happens, they stand on their soap boxes again, look down on people and tell them they're wrong and being misled, in a typical elitist, high-brow condescending, cunt-stick sort of way.

It is important that MPs have to look at the whole picture, and sometimes make unpopular decisions, however sooner or later, they have to explain and account for them.

If, upon reflection, they weren't the best decisions, then they have to change, not double down.

If they don't, then the the electorate will put in a populist.

Democracy.

You got lucky by the sounds of things. It could have been a lot worse.

Part of the problem is that TB was so rare that it just woundn't be on a GP's radar, unless you're unvaccinated and just returned from somewhere that's high risk.

Have you got any idea where you might have picked it up from? Good to hear that your immune system did it's job!

TB is bacterial, not viral - so you really needed a course of antibiotics way back when......

Fuck me. You literally keep emphasising "I've seen it with my own eyes", then telling anyone who doesn't live in your specific area and happens to see things differently that they're 'deluded' and 'living in a utopian bubble'. We're all aware of the shitholes we live in mate. You've not got some special inside vision on the state of the country because you clean windows for an asylum hotel.

Correct but we are talking about a large majority of BAME folk coming over, the very people who we were told during the pandemic are at a higher risk. These will be the people living in HMOS and 3-4 to a room in hotels. It won’t take long to spread and it won’t be long before hospitals are running out of space .

Lived in a shithole all my life - surrounded by the working classes, lifelong benefit claimants, addicts all over the shop. Mostly by choice to be honest, because a lot of them are my friends and family and it's what I know. No, my dad isn't/wasn't a Toolmaker. Are you on telegram?

Crazy that mate! Although I bet you're glad you had that jab at school. Could have been a lot worse if your immune system (knackered as it is 😁) didn't understand what it was looking at.

Hope you're well on the mend now though! 👍💪

It's not just me though is it that's the bloody point.

There's plenty who can see what's happening and social issues it's causing but people like you and that pompous fool nic refuse to believe it despite people simply saying what they see.

You've show time and time again you have absolutely no idea what's going on.

You're as much as head in the sand fool as our boy from Crawley.

Reckon pouring a load of asylum seekers or swathes of Romanians or Albanians will make your shithole better or worse?

To be fair Gonzo didn't Brexit sort that out?

Tbf claiming people are ‘living in bubbles’ or have their ‘head in the sand’ because they don’t share your concerns about immigration isn’t too different from calling someone a racist thicko 😄

Of course. You're only voice of reality on here, which coincidentally chimes with the voices of all the far right racists. You know best, because you clean windows for people in a shithole. Nobody else on here lives in or speaks to people in deprived areas. Just you.
