Infront of a table full of women he raised the point, and I quote, "even if the fat bastard did get near her, he could never outrun her and if he did he couldn't muster anything anyway"

Sounds like we have the same type of dad, only mine would throw in a few "n****rs" and "p***s" for good measure. As long as none of 'them' are around of course. He was one of the nicest blokes you could ever meet 10 years ago. Mental.

Mine is early 60's. He turned into a full-on racist in 2016. Almost overnight. It was bizarre. Maybe it was always bubbling away inside him but he just hid it, and felt the EU Referendum freed him for some reason. Or maybe I just didn't notice it before then. 🤷‍♂️

Racist , is a very strong emotive word  

That I my opinion is used way way to often.

Nowadays it's an immediate response towards anyone who speaks openly about their concerns regarding mass illegal immigration or the weekend rallies being held across the country.

One of my trigger points now is "  you cannot say that "

Why ? Because you don't agree with my point of view ? This can be on a very varid number of subjects . 

I respect your opinion but don't try to just shut me down by telling me not to talk.

Have a respectful conversation instead. 

Ps , politics and beer don't mix ever.

I don't think anyone is getting locked up purely for thinking it though  

It's when they start telling people about it and making plans

I don't think that is the case. There seems to be an issue with acknowledging concerns but also delivering facts that counter it without folk getting really annoyed.

Feelings about immigration, and facts are a world apart. I agree inflamtary language like racist doesn't help and shouldn't be used but similarly calling supporting a view that is seemingly racist from a position for what it is shouldn't then get someone pearl clutching but rather maybe invaluate why.

It's why Bolty fails all the time, entrenched views get you to the grave and that's about it.
