A slap on the wrist and some counselling?

Batton and Radcliffe were nearer to the correct verdict.

These Roma gypsy types involved in the Leeds riots. What do they offer? Has anyone on here ever had dealings with them? Do they work, do the kids go to school? Do we have any around here? I’ve seen a couple Knocking about in Bolton but I don’t know of any big communities of them around here.

Seen it claimed a child fell out of a bedroom window unattended. Taken to hospital. Social services stepped in and removed the kids as they should. All kicked off from there.

....and every time some horrendous case of neglect or worse comes out, social services are hammered for overlooking or missing things.

Social services massively overstretched. Can’t do a quarter of what they need to. And that cuts across all races in this country, too many kids with dreadful parents.

Yep - like most services they are on their absolute arses after being defunded for years.

The only people who have done alright are public health as the government shit themselves after COVID after they realised they probably shouldn't have defunded that service for years and put a shit ton of money into it. The problem being that they took the funds from healthcare to pay for it. The thick twats.

Cuts came all over. As I've said before, folk will can argue whether or not austerity lasted too long, but at the time it was unavoidable- whoever came into power in 2010.

My other half has done far worse than NHS staff in terms of wage rises over the period, and services have been reduced everywhere in the public sector- it forced me to leave my job.

There was simply insufficient money- as detailed by the letter left by the outgoing minister.

Again, folk will argue about whether things were managed as well as they could have been.

Fact is that the money going in now is astronomical, and it's unlikely to stay at that level if taxes are to come down- something that both major parties said they wanted to do.

We'll see what Streeting does with his reforms- hopefully he will get the organisation streamlined and more efficient.

Do you think those asking for 35% will now show some sense, or is their going to be continued action, given that he has already said no?

Streeting hopefully won't feel the need to squander billions away to his mates.

I think they have a government who is actually listening and committed to improving things. And isn't ideologically wed to the idea of getting rid of the NHS. And that makes a huge difference.

So I think they will back down on 30% but get a decent award. Which they deserve.

Nope - absolutely not. And I think this is the problem with immigration. They're not equally spread out across the country. They tend to get slotted into the most deprived communities who are under resourced anyway.

Which pisses the locals off. Which makes them all swing to the organisations that say they're going to help. Like Reform and the EDL.

And I can't say I blame them.

There are some things here that are just incorrect. The government isn’t run like a domestic house economy. Your outgoings and incomings aren’t independent. There wasn’t ’no money left’ and if you want to argue that was the case then what would you say now ‘even less money left’?

Cuts in public expenditure were needed as a very short term measure to stabilise the economic position but we kept going for years which is why our economy is and has been dreadful. And we ask why we can’t fund our public services including our nhs to the same levels across most of the rest of Northern Europe including France, why we spend less per capita on healthcare and have left a funding shortfall each years it’s because austerity and Brexit strangled our own economy.

Only utter morons think the "There's no money left" note was a 'detailed letter', and not just an on-going joke between  in-coming/out-going ministers. I imagine it will never happen again, because utter morons have deemed it serious.
