The Winker That Is - Christiano Ronaldo
mickadoo replied to Burndens Bogs's topic in Terrace Talk - 'Classics'
Its hard to compare them when all most of us see of the Spanish leagues is the big games and Europe. If all anyone saw of football was international games they'd think Baros was class and Gerrard was average at best. -

I'm Irish and i'd say that even excluding England regulars I could name a good England team that would be better in almost every area than we've got, i.e. Shorey, Barry, Nolan, Parker, Defoe, Cambell, Dawson, except maybe for goals since I rate Given much higher than even Robinson. -
Maybe they can add the Johnstone's Paint Trophy to their list of honours.

That'll be Leeds going down then, and just so we could give him a place on the bench!

He's got a good point, England can look very very blunt a lot of the time. Fabregas, Deco or Xavi can give a team real threat and creativity, although when Gerrards on form he can tear defenses apart, but only if the team is built around him. -

I think 1 to 1 on a court Ronaldo it'd be close, Gerrard can run, but he's not half as able to beat people. Depends if Ronaldo's in the mood, chances are Gerrard would shrug him off in first challenge and Christy would roll around for the next 20 minutes. -
Can anyone be worse than Mark Bright or Graeme Le Saux.

The was in extra time I think, and as far as I remember Aliadere and Ljunberg has come on as subs. The whole team was bolloxed and Arsenal exploited that
-
Part of the reason was probably to get rid of Reyes for someone who might be decent in the premiership. At the time Arsenal were getting a lot of criticism for their lack of physicality, so it can't be too hard to see why he might have gone for "The Beast". I don't think that he was too impressed with him, and even though his record is o.k. just looking at some of his performances can be frustrating. Even Cisse get 19 in 49 for Liverpool and he couldn't finish well either. Wenger already said that he knows already if he's going to sign him or not, so chances are that since he's not first team he won't be, although there's always a chance he might want to give the impression he doesn't really rate him to keep other clubs away and drive his price down.

As would I, but while I was there I'd nab Doyle, Lita and Hunt too.
-
Yep, and i don't know how you anyone paying attention to the league wouldn't have heard of him. Those Reading players are getting a fair bit of attention
-
Depends who he's playing against, if it's West Ham they'll probably stand out of his way and give him a pat on the back...

It's just brilliant.. http://www.dailymotion.com/kortman88/video..._but-de-messi/1

Chelsea to win title by a point, us 6th, everton 5th and Fulham, West ham and watford going down

I'd agree, most of those players suggested are squad players in the big teams, if we're gonna compete with them we need better players. They might be bargains, but i think Kewell, Murphy and Zenden would make little impact. However, one player who got dumped from a top club that I think could make an impact would be Eidur. Talk on Sky today was he might be going to Man U, and chances are he wouldn't be first choice there, so why wouldn't he return to a club where he knows he'll get first team football and Europe, maybe he'd convince Saviola to come along too (he is available for nothing now anyway).

What sort of contracts are Tal and thompson on I wonder? Might be better if they're off at the end of the season unless they start contributing something. Who's Fortune? I think i remember hearing of him a few months back...
-
I can't say I've seen much of him, but himself and Kevin Thompson used to be highly rated in their midfield. Probably would be a good buy to strengthen the midfield, maybe give nolan a challenge http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...tball_home&

Exactly, why should they have to work so hard just to have the "honour" of playing a big team. How is a country supposed to get a national interest in football, and get its youngster out playing the game if the only other team they ever play is their equally poor next door neighbours.
-
http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=4...tball_home& I hate Southgate and this is a bit rich, given that it's only 2 days after England struggle to put these "nobodies" to bed. Why not restrict the F.A. cup to just all pre-qualifiers too and have the winner of whoever scraps it out in 40 or so games in the lower leagues have a chance to play with the B team of the 'big boys', and while they're at it, why not form a superleague instead of the premiership because shit teams like boro have nothing to offer against the real teams in the league.
-
Maybe it worth considering that if it wasn't for the bans half the posts would be illegible and most of the discussion would be about how nonsensical stuff in along the lines of 'dey don gonna finish bov em' or something like that are.
-
It was only a joke, alright. If its any consolation, I regret saying anything now...
-
If he was a striker why would I say he came on "up front"?? FFS
-
I was watching the Ireland game, Michal?k came on for Slovakia in the last few minutes up front, might be the next Davies (only taller at 6'4")
-
Bah, who would be up to our standard coming from Serie B? Tachinardi, Miccoli, Blasi and Gasbarroni all seem to be serial loanees, expect them at the reebok soon.
-
David James and Thomas Myhre, 2-0 and 4-1. The stats I was looking at are almost certainly either wrong, or they only include starts, and include cup goals.
