Cheltenham Festival
You can find the initial entries for some of the races here: http://www.cheltenham.co.uk/raceday/entries/2013/ I'm waiting for more firms to go non runner no bet before I commit to any more bets. My 2013 ante post bets are evidence of what a few of you have already said- my two speculative ante post bets on Hidden Cyclone and Last Instalment for the Gold Cup both weren't entered into the race. Grandouet, my Champion Hurdle ante post bet, suffered a setback it was reported today which is concerning. My only remaining ante post bet is the one I feel most comfortable with which is Overturn each way for the Arkle. Does anyone have any strong opinions yet on any races or is it still too early?

Transfer Window
Depends, I would say that Afobe and Butterfield (Blackburn aside) didn't perform well enough merit a place in the side. Dawson will have to come in and perform well in training and in games to cement a place in the side. He always favoured a return the North West and I believe Freedman had a big part in persuading him to choose us, as there was temptation for him to go with someone he knew in Appleton at Blackburn. That probably would have been the safer option for him. I have no idea if he's going to be good enough, he's performed well for U21s, and extremely well for Rochdale in League 1 & 2, but only played a handful of games in the Prem where he's done relatively OK I believe. But he does fit the young, hungry, committed and a point to prove mould which Freedman seems to favour at this moment.

Transfer Window
Dawson wants to play first team football. He's not happy playing second fiddle in the prem, he'd rather be in the Championship playing week in week out. If there's not a chance of that at WBA I think he'd try to force a move.

Transfer Window
The lad is totally down to earth and a model pro. You won't catch him ballooning on twitter or sniffing for fanny in Panacea. When he first went to WBA Hodgson bollocked him for over-training. Coming in early and staying behind after too. Pearce rates him at the U21s but since Clarke has come in at WBA he hasn't really had a sniff due to the form of others. If its a change in attitude Dougie wants then he is the ideal man. He just wants to play, first team and isn't arsed by the pay cheque at the end of it. The problem from our point of view is that he is totally unproven at this level. He excelled at Boro and with Dale in League 1 and 2, then jumped to the Prem and struggled for appearances unfortunately.

Pretty sure it was a Wandererswayer who congratulated me on becoming a Dad. Really appreciated it, apart from the fact (as far as I'm aware) I've not sprogs so far!

New Development Coach
People need to read before articles before going off on one. This is replacing two of Coyle's mates brought from Burnley with cock all to do with BWFC previously! Phillips and Lee are still running the academy. Fullarton looks like he'll be doing the reserves.

Fiddles
I'm with Garrp. It's been a pretty dire 18 months of football unfortunately, and a wank couple of weeks for me personally. But in that moment everything was forgotten. Hugging strangers, falling down the steps as you charge to the front, dancing like a cunt. I'm yet to discover anything that replicates that feeling. Yes we were a bit shit, but because of thst goal for the rest of the night I was on Cloud 9.

Dougie Freedman - New Manager
I don't want to link to the page direct as it is blatant copyright, even though it is on another message board. But go on to The Wanderer and page 15 of the "Dougie Freedman - New Manager" thread and its there for all to see!

Dougie Freedman - New Manager
There is a full copy of the article on another BWFC forum. Freedman says that he does not have an agent.

Dougie Freedman - New Manager
I'd hazard a guess that Fleming has more top flight appearances than Darby and Phillips put together. Might be talking shit though.
-
Dougie Freedman - New Manager
Exactly. No one knows what's happening anyway. The BEN is intimating that Lee and Darby could stay with the 1st team whilst Phillips goes back to the academy. Lets wait and see what happens and back the staff and players when they are put in place, rather than writing them off before they've bloody started.

Dougie Freedman - New Manager
He is meant to be a disciplinarian from what I hear

Dougie Freedman - New Manager
Link to an interview with Freedman before the game versus United last year: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/crystal-palace/8924349/Manchester-United-v-Crystal-Palace-Dougie-Freedman-relishing-pitting-wits-against-Sir-Alex-Ferguson-in-cup.html When we were first linked I was as underwhelmed as anyone, but looking at the names knocking around ther wasn't much on offer at all, and the more I've read about him the more I am encouraged. Got my full backing.

Who Do We Want?
Palace refuse permission for us to speak to Freedman.

Who Do We Want?
I agree, but if it is as essential as it is being portrayed, to get back into the Premier League this season due to the money, then surely we need a short term solution? We need to hit the ground running, and if that is the case then somebody like Mick who has a record of getting clubs up would be my choice, no matter what his Premier League record was like. If there wasn't such an emphasis on this season, then probably I'd think differently with OGS and the bloke at MK.

Is he a good acrobat? I'll get my coat!

Pontefract Tomorrow
No problem, I did alright in the end. We missed the first race but I had a 7/1 and 9/4 winner from the other five races so I did pretty well. Mr Wolf was a non-runner in the last. It was totally different to the racecourses I've been to before, £3.80 for a can of Strongbow was a bit steep though!

Pontefract Tomorrow
I'm off to Pontefract tomorrow for the first time with a few mates. Is it a decent track or not? Any trainers who I should be looking out for and is there a draw bias? Any tips would obviously be appreciated, I had a brief look earlier and the going is good too which makes a change of late. A couple of my mates from round there have mentioned this horse called Mr Wolf racing in the last, is he some sort of local legend? Cheers

Cricket
The fort was free until the 4th day. I wandered into the Singer stand on day 4 for free but couldn't see cock all, so would have been miffed at paying 5000 rupees per day there. Fort was hot but a cracking view and cheap piss as we brought a cool box full of Lion Lagers.
