  1. I think there was a big rugby union game on in Hartlepool that same afternoon which was why our game was an early kick off. Yes, that breeze blowing in off the North Sea was a bit nippy that day!
  2. Yippee!! I was one of the 2,902 there on that night against Darlo so I can start making my plans
  3. I remember that pre-season game v. Preston that was abandoned due to a thunderstorm. Didn't lightning strike a floodlight that day? I enjoyed it tonight despite the score, it's only the 2nd time I've seen a youth cup game at the reebok, I used to see a lot of them at Burnden. Obadeyi did look promising, he could have easily scored a couple more and won the game for us. The German lad, Wolze, should have equalised near the end too.
  4. I gave up looking for it on the Bolton site but the West Ham site gives the fixture details 19 DEC - Bolton Wanderers (home - 7pm K/O - Boleyn Ground) - FA Youth Cup http://www.whufc.com/page/Youthfixtures/0,,12562,00.html
  5. But even if they did that, season ticket holders would complain that they couldn't sit in their regular seats.
  6. I can't remember an away section in the Lever End either, at least not officially? There was an away section in the Burnden Stand and I think away fans stood in the far section of the Burnden Paddock while Normid was being built. For the last couple of years at Burnden away fans sat in the beer tent in front of Normid.
  7. They were in the Lever End 1974/5 and there was a fair bit of trouble. They must have got in early and were at the top in the middle, surrounded by Bolton fans on all sides. The 76/7 game was around christmas, over 30,000 on Burnden that day
  8. They certainly became fickle in 1979 when they had a home gate of 7,134 for a league game against Wrexham "The average attendance dropped to just above 20,000; the worst figure since the end of World War 2 and the last match against Wrexham attracted only 7,134 spectators; the lowest crowd of the Century". http://www.toonarama.co.uk/seasons/season%...ry_1978-79.html
  9. England have played them twice in friendlies St James Park 18 August 2004 England won 3 - 0 Wembley 31 May 2000 England won 2 - 0
  10. J??skel?inen did play last night and friends in Finland told me he had one of his best ever games. He kept 8 clean sheets and conceded only 7 goals in Finland's 14 qualifying games. http://www.hs.fi/english/article/Portugal+...r/1135232015226 and he gets high praise on the UEFA site too http://www.uefa.com/competitions/euro/fixt...3804/index.html
  11. I was at that game but don't remember attacks on Bolton fans afterwards, although I would have just gone home with my dad. Was that the same game when Alan Waldron broke his leg? I remember the season after when Blackpool fans bricked the Painters pub before our home game against them.
  12. I know someone on that flight and was told that it was delayed because Nolan forgot his passport. It's mentioned at the end of this MEN report http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/spo...espite_injuries
  13. Leaving Saturday 14.30 via Zurich
  14. I had a free meal there on Friday as they had a dry run before this week's opening. They had Superbock in bottles @ ?2.95
  15. I've mostly used gigsandtours or ticketline in recent years, they all add on rip-off booking charges etc http://www.ticketline.co.uk/ For smaller venues I've used wegottickets a few times. To keep costs down they don't post out tickets , they give you a booking reference which gets you into the gig. http://www.wegottickets.com/
  16. Hmm......I had a pre-match pint in the north stand tonight, don't believe everything you hear!
  17. I got the phone call on Friday and picked up my ticket today. It was 25€
  18. I saw highlights of the game on British Eurosport last night, it's being repeated a couple of times today. Red Star seemed unlucky to lose.
  19. I read that in the Times a couple of days ago: "Although interested at the time, Souness distanced himself from the job yesterday after hearing nothing from Bolton over the weekend. The Scot also cited his reluctance to become involved in a battle with Megson, whom he perceived to be represented by Mark Curtis, the agent charged by Bolton with helping them to find a new manager." http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle2726925.ece
  20. Maybe he'll help you win a domestic trophy after 52 barren years?
  21. J??skel?inen's not playing for Finland tomorrow, looks like he's resting a back problem. Antti Niemi, who recently agreed to come out of international retirement, takes his place. http://www.hs.fi/urheilu/jalkapalloilu/art...a/1135231076888
  22. Same here, Wed - Sat from Manchester ?108
  23. It took me 6 days to get one last July in Helsinki for a trip to St Petersburg. I was initially asked to pay 125€ but it only cost 85€ when I went to collect it. I was told that prices for UK citizens can change daily and that it's always more expensive for people from UK, Ireland, Denmark, Iceland and Norway than for other Europeans. The visa application asked for proof of valid insurance but they told me that I wasn't required to provide it although they insisted on this requirement from the Belgian and Finnish friends I was with. Dunno why? You have to have an invite from a hotel or someone living there for the visa but this wouldn't be a problem on an organised trip.
  24. You can use the internet for free at the central and local libraries, up to 2 hours a day I think. I'd post the opening times but the Bolton mbc site seems to be down just now. http://www.bolton.gov.uk/libraries
