  1. I saw all three but it has to be 1978 by miles! To see us win promotion with a following of close to 20,000 is difficult to beat. It's one of my top 5 best ever Bolton games. The crowd that night was 27,835, 4 days earlier in their previous home game against Sheffield Utd Blackburn's gate was 8,997
  2. Albums - Fleet Foxes - Ragged Wood The All New Adventures of Us - Best Loved Goodnight Tales Bon Iver - For Emma For Ever Ago The Grand Archives - Grand Archives Silver Jews - Lookout Mountain, Lookout Sea Born Ruffians - Red Yellow Vetiver - Things Of The past Gigs - Herman D?ne - Manchester Deaf Institute, December Sebadoh - Manchester Academy, April Silver Jews - Bowery Ballroom, New York, September
  3. Levi in Lapland is a great place for kids but not too cheap, I've been there twice. Inghams do tours there from the UK http://www.inghams.co.uk/ski/FIN/index.html
  4. You could fly to Krakow and go to Zakopane http://poland.europe-mountains.com/attractions/zakopane.aspx or Szczyrk http://poland.europe-mountains.com/szczyrk.aspx We're considering Poland, Slovakia or Slovenia for our next ski trip
  5. I bought one of those off Ruth over 20 years ago for about ?20, she said it was one of the rarest post war Bolton programmes. I think Rotherham away in the LC a couple of years earlier is also quite rare.
  6. I was told to take my paper copy when hiring a car in the states a couple of weeks ago but was never asked for it when the time came, they just checked my photo ID. I'd still recommend taking both though.
  7. I remember breaking the pyschological ?2 barrier, I think it was Luton away around 1982.
  8. I agree, The Lives of Others is a top film. I did a 'DDR' trip last week and saw ex-Stasi prisons and HQ etc in Leipzig and Berlin. Talvisota, about the Finland - Russia winter war is excellent too!
  9. If I remember correctly about going to Wolves - Coventry on that day it would have been 30/12/78
  10. I was thinking about that game myself, wasn't sure if I'd imagined it! It must have been a late call off as I'm sure I recollect walking down to Burnden not knowing that the game was off. Could it have been 1975? Bolton and Stoke were both out of the FA Cup in the 3rd round that year.
  11. We drove to that one, I remember going to Wolves - Coventry (?) after realising our game was off
  12. I'm staying here for 3 nights in September http://www.thepodhotel.com/# We stayed there years ago when it was called the Pickwick. It's a good location, a couple of blocks from Central Park. It's not anything fancy and the rooms are a quite small but it's a decent clean hotel and cheap by Manhattan standards.
  13. Puhun v?h?n suomea (I speak a bit of Finnish)
  14. He was one of the better players in a declining team in my early days as a fan, until Jimmy Armfield came along to rescue us. But I agree with all the earlier comnents, John Hulme was a top guy for the wanderers! RIP John Hulme
  15. I remember going to Bristol City around Christmas time in that era on a TR85 trip maybe the same game? We all stayed over and had a night out with Bristol fans. I think it was linked to the 1986 Freight Rover Trophy match at Wembley?
  16. He was ripping Real madrid apart a few weeks ago when Depor beat them 1-0, Real struggled to cope with his pace according to the commentator
  17. According to The Football Rivalries Report 2008 (?) the top five football grudge games are: 1. West Bromwich Albion & Wolves 2. Ipswich Town & Norwich City 3. Liverpool & Manchester United 4. Portsmouth & Southampton 5. Cardiff City & Swansea City http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtm...5/sfnwba115.xml
  18. Looks like he may have missed the cut off point by a day iv) If a player accumulates 10 (ten) recorded cautions in FTCM between the opening day of the Playing Season and the second Sunday of April in the same Season, he will be suspended automatically for a period covering: - Two First Team matches http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/Disciplinary/Pr...02/09/24877.htm
  19. I was there at the TR85 meeting in the Balmoral, I remember it being a real struggle to get him up on stage but it was well worth the effort. I miss seeing him riding around town on his bike. I also have fond memories of him at the 'save the octagon gig' in 1999. The likes of Tim Booth (James) and Peter Kay where on the bill that night. http://archive.thisislancashire.co.uk/1999/5/17/771478.html
  20. Thanks for the info, I didn't know about the Radcliffe tribute, I've just made an mp3 copy of it from your bbc radio 4 link.
  21. Very good start, especially as the Kiwis put us in. Fingers crossed....
  22. Yeah, I'm here now. Leaving for madrid tomorrow
  23. and I'll have a fisu (vodka+fishermen's friend)
  24. Via Helsinki - Kittil? - Copenhagen I hope it's a bit nippy in Madrid as I'll have all my cold weather and ski gear with me, although it's not all that cold in Levi/Kittil? just now, only -5c or so and it's 100 miles or so inside the Arctic circle. When I was there a couple of years ago it was -30c or so. Sorry to be missing Pompey game but my North Lower seat has gone to a good home.
  25. I know the ticket office sometimes mess up but i had no complaints with the online service yesterday. I ordered Madrid Home tickets at 16.30 and they arrived in the post today.
