  1. "Hamann won eight medals during his seven year stint at Anfield." Maybe he can teach Sam and the boys how to get past the winning post in the League & FA cup?
  2. And do the stars say who will finish below us? More specifically..... Jackburn, City & Everton????
  3. He could still do a job in the Championship imho. What price Brum v. BWFC in the FA cup, NGotty header 90th minute? #-o
  4. Same page says Brum are talking to Bruno... "Birmingham City are in talks with French defender Bruno N'Gotty, 34, who is out of contract at Bolton and available on a free transfer. (Daily Mail)"
  5. Fanbl00dytastic ! A few more and I'll be even happier!

And after a broken leg probably. :-( Come on Sam...... seal those deals...... give us some new names to look forward to seeing in a white shirt. Please
  7. "Its Shite." But it's our shite of which we should be proud ! i) every team wants a long throw-in specialist. ii) even the top teams now play around at the corner flag if they are winning and there are only a few minutes to go. iii) everyone goes in hard and tight against the top paid "don't hurt me hairstyle" players (thinking here of Arsenal !!!) iv) All smaller clubs want success on a shoestring Let's just say that we are trend setters!!! Dancing
  8. Thought this may be useful http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/5109254.stm Snack
  9. For those of us who are non Microsoft, a version of the file can be found here which should work for most other calendar programs (Palm etc) http://bickerfree.com/bwfc2006-2007.vcs Snack
  10. It's not that bad a deal actually. My daughters have both been away mascots and for that we had to have the full official strip which cost a lot more than ??50 !!! But my kid's blood runs white now and they are Bolton for life. So for the club it may not generate a lot of cash in the short term but in the long term it could be a great investment. Don't forget that there will be extra match tickets for the kids, parents, grand-parents etc etc. And it may stop some kids supporting a team just because they've won something recently!!!!
  11. May not be a "bigger" club, but he will have seen the quality of the academy players, they have more European experience and will have European football next year if they win their final. Plus some cash to spend. That said.... I reckon that Sam has done a deal with the board "I get rid of x players, reduce wages by ??x and you give me ??x million to spend on new players of my choice." He's done his bit... let's see if he gets to spend any money! If not, I think Boro will look very attractive to him. Newcastle door is not closed either yet (although as good as) and with the merry-go-round about to start who knows what other clubs will join it !!!

Having read some of that website (thanks for the link) it's not as straight forward as I thought!!!! But I reckon that I'll go with a ??135 punt for a dish, the bits and a dodgy decoder to watch the odd game I can and some cricket in the summer. (??135 is about what 4 months sky ??) But it's as WELL as watching the boys. That said, this'll be the first time for years I've missed Spurs but it's gettin to expensive now I've got 2 kids & a wife in tow with me supporting the boys. Tickets, travel, pie & pint.... the old bank account won't take it. I blame myself for taking her to Portugal.... she's hooked now !!!!! So I'M missing more games !!! Something's not right there.

Anybody use one of these dodgy foreign satellite setups? I'm tempted to get one but.. i) How often to you need to 'reprogramme' the box ii) Is the quality OK? iii) Are they reliable?

Sam's about to be on Sky Sports news if you have time to get to the TV to talk about this. (16:20)
  15. The two managers did not make these decisions alone. It has already been said that WHFC & MCFC are businesses and will be run as such, therefore Pardew & Pearce will have consulted the board, the marketing department and probably even the sales department. What sells more tickets and shirts? What brings in more revenue? Is it winning the FA cup or getting into Europe? They have both done their own calculations, made their forecasts and made their choice. The managers will have then picked the teams accordingly. In terms of upsetting people, the FA will be bottom of the heap along with other clubs in a relegation battle which do not affect either team. Fans would have been considered for nothing more than how much can they get out of their wallets. Passion in football exists on the terraces, occasionally on the pitch, rarely in the board room, but never with the accountants.
  16. I'd be happier having two 10 goals a year strikers otherwise you spend a lot of money and risk getting an injury (Owen being an example at Newcastle) And Borgetti..... can't we take a small risk against Sunderland and start with Jared and Diouf together for an hour or so and see if Nolan and Stelios can feed them enough times for them to get a goal or 4?
  17. Is there still a place into Europe for fair play? If so then we need all the teams to place nice against Charlton to make sure Wiggin don't get into Europe through this method. We'd never hear the end of it!
  18. How the 'ell does all this work? Seems to me that more cards you get and the worse the officials behave, the higher your average and the higher you get up the league !!!! http://www.premierleague.com/public/downlo...Play_Feb_06.pdf It most be something like accurate because Jackburn are at the bottom, but Chelski 2nd ?????
  19. Diouf won't play unless he's 100%. he'll want Diouf for the 2nd UEFA leg.
  20. We are both clubs who are experiencing some success in cup competitions and the league. They are not local rivals, they are a team down in the smoke. I just hope that whoever get's through this round makes it to the final to take on (and beat) one of the big boys. The real Hammers fans I know are looking forward to Saturday, it's a big day in their season as it's their last hope for some silverware and a trip to Wembley/Cardiff. They have a respect for our defence, particularly at home, and are expecting a tight game knowing that losing at the Reebok is no disgrace. A 0-0 and a replay would be a good result for them as they fancy their chances at home against us. Which is a fair point. So here's to a good game on Saturday shared with PROPER Hammers fans! Prediction: 2-1 to the Wanderers....... Borgetti, Jansen (Think of the odds on that !!!!) with a late goal from Harewood.
  21. If you measure around Gartside's waist it's exactly the same as Sam's height.
  22. Lets be positive here.... Sam has shown that once you get in the starting line up you can stay there if you perform (Joey O'B this year, Henrik when he was fit, Nolan ousting JJ, Vaz Te or Jansen can push out Dioufy or Borgetti). So a new signing who comes in to play reserves knows that they have to work to get into the side and can't just walk into the team. If you pay ??7M for a player, then as a manager you are expected to play them and that can really rock the boat with players who have done the work, made the team and done nothing wrong. So get behind the 11 that walk out onto the pitch, the 5 on the bench and don't worry about what other teams pay for other players. Snack
  23. Whilst we do plough a lot of money into the club, are we their biggest income? Does ticket sales beat Premiership, TV & European income? 20,000 per home game, 25 games per year, ??30 per ticket.. ??15M Anyone know how that stacks up?
  24. It's ok, 2 of the kids are neighbours and support the hammers so at least they'll be quiet on the way back ! We'll be waiting for the next round draw. #-o #-o
