  1. Nor does my missus And she's one of them
  2. That'll be the Bridgewater Another pub that I was a regular at for a while as a youth... because of the Barmaids. People knew it as 'Greens' / 'Green for go' etc because of the beer I think, but I can't remember what the beer was called ! Strong stuff though. Used to have a skinful in there and then brave the walk back over the motorway bridge to LH, usually freezing cold and windy as hell
  3. Oh aye, I know what you mean. Used to frequent the Farnworth pubs and clubs regularly too, more or less every week... again, other than the odd bloodied nose on a friday night, never felt unsafe or threatened, just had plenty of ale and a laugh. For some bizarre reason I have never ever set foot in the Shuttle though. Got family just across the road too.
  4. Aye I think it's now the kids thing, near Smithfold Garage Closed about 15 years ago... still the 'Bell chippy' across the road though My main haunts as a youth were the Spa, Horse Shoe (closed) and the Stumble Inn (was the Raven) Rough pubs now (or at least have been over the years) but seemed OK when I used to go in them... I guess if you know the people you're alright... Walkden Labour, New Inn, Dukesgate, Horse Shoe quite a bit too Jesus when I think about it I could add another ten LH / Walkden pubs with ease that I visited occasionally, maybe 20
  5. Aaahhh I'm wasting my sunday afternoon here trying to work out what you were calling him Next time spell it out properly please
  6. The patterns are changing somewhat, but all in all, I agree The media are having a field day but there's been no fundamental change in this stuff
  7. Harper has a much better engine and much more physical presence He's capable of scoring goals and making runs past the forwards Guthrie could do none of that... pretty different players I suppose
  8. I think he'd be an excellent signing, if the price was only ?2-3m Always impressed me and he's young and we're a touch short of midfielders Miles better than Guthrie
  9. You don't know LH or Farnworth then posh lad Get a mansion for ?150k round there That's if there were any mansions
  10. I assume the thread title mistake is ironic
  11. Was gonna say the same I might be behind the times a bit, but what's the latest on him?
  12. I disagree with what it represents to be honest. It's a symbol of the oppression of women. These liberties we afford minorities often seem to represent liberties they are denying to other people. That's the circle you can't square. I don't buy 'it's their choice' either. You really think women would, without influence, choose to dress like that? I don't. I don't believe it has a place in this country either. We're better than that. And when rules have to be bent in common sense situations - i.e. teaching, going through security - it's a total farce. It is plain to see that we've lurched WAYYYY too far with all this nonsense. Even if 99% of the stories are just sensationalist claptrap.
  13. I'd go along with that And knowing New Cross, it's more than possible, some truly despicable c?nts round there Same area that nurse (I think) got shot in crossfire not so long back
  14. Hehe that was funny from Taylor actually (it's after-eventing by the way, ante-post is the opposite of this) Women
  15. Yeah But I prefer it to Motson and Lawro Good call NB
  16. Rumoured to be a target for ?4m to Villa Doubtful he'll be a first teamer for Spurs next year
  17. Maybe I thought he would be the holding midfielder, Campo role.. but I haven't seen much of him... maybe JOB and McCann will fight it out for the holding spot
  18. Where is Taylor in that system Traf? Pretty sure he'll be an integral part of the team from now on, on the left. For my money we'll still be a 4-3-3 same as ever, Davies (or Diouf) on the right hand side, and McCann and JOB competing for the spot alongside Nolan in central midfield (that's one position we could desperately do with a quality signing IMO)
  19. Indeed Gardner and Samuel, Steinsson and Hunt, we've no need to be messing around in the full back positions For me we need a replacement for Meite if he goes, that's it at the back
  20. Gartside said as much, plain as day, in the interview at the start of the thread
  21. He's the cable expert isn't he, not laptops Or has he branched out?
  22. I agree Splashed ?700 on one six months ago maybe Stupid, similar spec ones available now for ?250-300 All I do is surf and that, no need for a high spec, and that goes for most folk... I just wanted to get rid of the desk in the house... Just get on ebuyer.co.uk or somewhere, and buy something that has plenty of good user reviews
  23. I agree, a leaner, trimmer squad all round hopefully. Less discontent around and hungrier players. If we can become a mid-table side again and make the transition from the Okocha / Campo / Stelios / Djorkaeff era to a younger, more British team it'll be a grand job If Meite goes (and he probably should after OT) we need cover at centre back Likewise if Diouf goes we need some form of replacement And then we need another attacking midfielder of some description and we'll be looking OK No Uefa this year, so less games, younger squad too so we don't need stacks of players... all in all I'm quite happy with how it's shaping up
