Barnsley (A)

Another away game, another on sale day.ย  Tomorrow at 10am, 3200 initial allocation. Depending on the next couple of weeks this could be a huge game.

Barnsley away definately not a Williams game. It's an Iredale game.ย

Depends if Wigan were happy to consume time and energy playing the ball about in front of two banks of 5.

Old Mr Freedman loved a bit of that.

Yes, but we were allowed to be

No - and so it proved. Possession flatters to deceive when thereโ€™s no end product and lots of teams are happy to be out of possession when it creates counter attacking opportunities.

If we were a couple of goals up Iโ€™d have been well chuffed to pass it around.

Its not a fear of Barnsley and Derby, who look as average as any team we've seen promoted from this league in recent times, its just an acceptance that we don't have a track record of winning away at the better teams, not just the top teams but the top 9 or 10.ย  On that basis I'd take a point all day long at Barnsley, Derby & Stevenage and hope we win all the others to give us a fighting chance going into the last game at Peterboro (who may have nothing to play for).

If only the top 6 were in the league, we'd currently be 2nd, behind Portsmouth - For now, anyway!

Wins: Stevenage & Derby

Draws: Barnsley & Peterborough

Defeats: Portsmouth

Worth pointing out we are also only 2 wins and 12 points away from matching last seasons corresponding totals in the league with 11 games and 33 points left to play for.ย

Tough game but we are the than capable of going there and winning tomorrow. Not only would 3 points give us a little breathing space, but would do our mentality wonders you fell too.

Need our core midfield of Thommo, Sheehan and Dempsey for this one and hopefully Charles is back.

Tough one. From a solidity stand point yes; Dempsey in for Maghoma - That can get you the draw you need

But Maghoma's guile could be difference and a potential Match-winner

It is tough.

Barnsley will have a go though- they have to, and press quickly and expediently.ย

I like sheehan against deep teams, where he can pick the lock.

Maybe maghoma offers a bit more pace and ability to go at a defence, which may be useful when we get the ball back and look to create.

We'll have to have a go, because it's unlikely we'll keep a clean sheet. They've scored in each of their last 16 games. So statistically, it's likely we'll need a minimum of 2 goals to win the game. That is doable though, as they've only managed 1 clean sheet in that run of 16

Interestingly (perhaps not!), they have the same amount of points at home, as we have won away from home.ย

Cole on 17 is their Top scorer (same as Dion)

McAtee and Kane have 9 a-piece (Kane's impressive total comes from Midfield) vs Adeboyejo's 9

It really could go either way and should be much more entertaining that our last visit there from a neutral's standpoint

They will focus on Sheehan tomorrow if he plays and will take it in turn to foul him.

We either need to rest him and bypass that phase of play or let them kick lumps out of him and hope the ref is tough, but having seen the last few times he's been targeted I don't hold out too much hope.

I would put Morley and Thomasson in there to take the fight to them.

Some good info there (I'm interested if nobody else ๐Ÿ˜€)

Dion on 13 according to BBC?

we will edge this 2-1 and go unbeaten until the end of the season...

Surely you mean Dempsey and Tomo?ย  No way Morley starting in place of Sheehan for a game like this.ย ย

But I agree they'll take it in turns to foul him.ย  If we did that we'd pick up a string of bookings, but its different when its the other way round.

I canโ€™t believe people want to leave Sheehan out because other teams will target him. Surely we need our best team not weaken it by taking out our best players. We need to be in the refs ear right from the start and instead of the gentleman he is jumping straight back up again, Josh needs to play on it a bit like others do. Evatt must know what to expect in this so whatever they do we need to make sure we play on it where we can and George needs to be told not to react when he will also be targeted. Weโ€™ve suffered too much shithousery from other clubs and itโ€™s time we did a bit ourselves.

Anyone any idea if Barnsley are doing away tickets POTD?

Sheehan needs to play IMO - Agree they'll take it turns to have a nibble and we need to be a little more versed in getting in the refs ear before the first one goes in on him.

He has to play though. Leaving out arguably our best player and our pass-master would leave the Evatt Out brigade licking their chops

Cheers. I'd seen something similar but as luck would have it I'm now working in Leeds all day tomorrow. So I could easily go... just not get to the ticket office for 10.

Be reyt. I'll get back to the pub and watch it with a pint or two!

the game last year had POTD and given that we haven't sold out I can't see them not giving us that option again

Apart from playing well we need to be disciplined for a change tomorrow. None of that harassing the ref or petulance when a decision doesnโ€™t go our way - which has brought us so many unnecessary bookings this season. We shouldnโ€™t dive into tackles and should address the ref as โ€œSirโ€ or โ€œMโ€™ludโ€. We should be an exemplar of sportsmanship.

Because there is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that Barnsley will try to wind us up, will dive if we go anywhere near them, and as obvious a tactic as it may seem, itโ€™s worked time and time again this season.

Wouldnโ€™t do any harm for someone to ask the ref for his protection before kick off just to put in ย his mind the idea that Barnsley are intending to kick us off the park.

Maybe for once another team will get punished and penalised for indiscipline.

I presume they're electronic tickets mate, so as long as you call them, you can probably get one delivered to your phone

Youโ€™ll be able to pick them up from Barnsley ticket office before the game assuming you call our office before 10am

Ring the ticket office before 10 and theyโ€™ll send the tickets over on the coach to collect on the nightย
