It's one of the things I would criticise Evatt for -  people having good games and then getting benched. Collins hat trick and Bod scoring 2 could see one or both being benched against Bristol,  it's what he does.

We're also in danger of making Dion better the longer he is out. It won't be the second coming of the messiah and his form prior to injury as we all know was poor.

For once barring injuries let's stick to the same team for Bristol.

I’m surprised Collins didn’t get the curly finger before his third to be honest.

Madcap entertainment, some great football, could have had 8 with a bit better luck in their box but they could have had 3-4 as well.

JDB and Collins are great foils for each other, two games together, hateful of goals and chances. Much preferred the approach today too, much quicker up to those two, a lot less of the walking football in our third. Guess what, more pressure on a porous opposition defence and wobbly keeper, who'd have thowt it?

Maghoma and Sheehan really enjoyable to watch, class acts at this level. Tomo a bit hit and miss first half but kept driving us forward in second half looking for more goals.

Worth a dash back from Northumberland for 👍

We don't know what he said to the players in fairness, it may well have been more positive.

However, I don't know why he said it in the first place, unless it was a perverse mind game with the Reading management.

I don't think there's any need to wonder if there was any greater depth to his comments, it was just another example of poor public communication

He really could do with having some kind of media training

Haha

You laugh, but the easiest go-to at the moment, is to call Evatt out and play football manager about what he should be doing/saying

I’ve openly come out and expressed my concerns.

But if people are to come out and criticise him for; selection, media comments, poor runs and general bollocks negativity, then you can’t blame folk for backing him and quoting some of the outlandish claims that have been wrongly thrown in his direction.

No wonder he’s taking receipts.

To have people calling him a twat, tosser, prick (and that’s just from you 🤣), then when some of his controversial comments are followed by 5 goals with some banter from the players he’s picking and scoring a hat-rick then why not give him some credit?

Pig headed, arrogant etc etc.

People can't wait for him to fail but won't praise him when we do well.

There's a balance. Numpties will never find it.

Sorry but he's called the players and the fans out this week and we're expected to tickle his belly after beating some relegation fodder, sorry not for me

Agreed- that's why I said I don't know why he made the comments in the first place.

Badly conceived, even if he was different with the players, it was a bad image for the fans to see.

I also don't think there were any mind games as I don't think he has that quality.

Absolutely.

I don’t get why people can’t be balanced and change/alter their opinion.

I did it after Stevenage with Evatts pre and post match comments, which I didn’t like.

With some, once they’ve nailed their colours to the mast, it’s like that’s it, no matter what happens I have to keep to  that opinion.

We’d have had folk on here if we’d lost saying Santos shouldn’t have started, Evatt picked the wrong team, JDB (😊) should never have started, why did Dempsey not start and a shed load of other shit.

But do they come on here after a 5 goal for victory and say perhaps they were wrong…. do they fuck!! 🤣

Just got back home. Haven’t read the previous posts but as I was one of the ‘unfortunates’ who was there ten years ago ( 7-1) , I’ll take that 5-2 result all day long.

Ten years ago!

He’s still getting an easy ride and people are backing it.

Nobody wants him to fail but also people are frustrated

I’ll happily praise today’s performance.

Great win and a great watch. All spot on.

Great to see Collins and Bod form a continued partnership and see a real fluidity from back to front.

I could watch that happily week after week. Not arsed we looked a tad ropey at the back as we scored 5.

Time of the year. Every single result means so much that they are taken in isolation and even those that are usually more rationale lose that ability to be (even just in the heat of the moment).

We were quality today. High intensity from the off, top performances all over the park and 8-2 wouldn’t have flattered us when you look at some of the chances that didn’t go in.

I would say it isn’t a surprise, it’s another game that we should win, and as usual we do. But that sounds a bit negative and it shouldn’t because the pressure was on and it never looked like it. Even after they equalised it just looked like we knew we’d go up the other end and score.

Pompey win by a couple tomorrow and we beat Shrewsbury by a couple in our game in hand and we’re back in the automatic spots. It’s far from over!

A fair point. Rather see us with a high tempo, putting teams to the sword.

OK, clean sheet are always welcome, but I look back to SAF's successes at utd- they were based on having a go and trying to win games, and sometimes that meant conceding whilst scoring plenty.

If Pompey do win, that will be a couple of consecutive defeats on the road for Derby.

Hopefully, it will put the willies up 'em

Of course they are frustrated (saw you in old post office in Stevenage by the way but you were too busy  socialising! 🤣

I was more than frustrated after Stevenage but you shouldn’t let your pre conceived opinions turn in to criticism for those who are backing Evatt and explaining that support for Evatt can only help our cause.

If people can be so far off the spectrum to say that Evatts comments are part of the problem, then you have to accept the other end of the spectrum that his comments have invigorated players into performing.

In reality I’m probably somewhere in the middle.
