How does it work ?

Under Evatt we could not string 2 results together but were always just outside the playoffs.

Under SS we seem to win nearly every week and are just outside the play offs.

If only we had beat Reading ! 😂

I'd like to think that we have despite our league position remaining similar, we have eaten up a lot of ground at the teams above us.

I think Huddersfield were miles ahead and now look.

Wycombe were roughly 16/17 points ahead and now that is just 10.

Slowly but surely.

Think top 2 is out of reach for the moment, take each game at a time. But we have Stockport and Wycombe to play at home.

Who knows!

Edit: sorry @Lostock Whites, I’d meant to quote @Ani.

Looking at the last 6 games with SS in charge, we are in great form. Unfortunately, the top 6 form teams also includes Charlton, Wrexham, Stockport and Reading which is why we aren’t otherwise higher up the league table.

Considering who we've played in those 6 games, it's a tremendous return.

Dunno who those others have played in that time, and how many have to play each other, but we only have 2 more to play, and both at home.

Still tight, but the squad just have to believe in themselves now, and go and perform.

It's a piss poor league. I wasn't an Evatt hater. But, even with us in the same position as we were when he got sacked, we are in a miles better place now than we were with him and his stubborn ways.

It does seem a bit strange at first that our position hasn't changed a lot.

The difference is that if IE was manager, with those fixtures, we'd now be 10th below Reading, Orient and Barnsley, maybe just above Stevenage at best and the season would effectively be over.

Even if we don't get in the play offs, we know the matches will have meaning till at least the end of April, not till the end of Feb.

Sums it up on Saturday that we were at one stage in 7th place, 2 points off 6th, but ended the day a point closer, but a place further behind!!

8 games post Evatt - 19 points. 2.4ppg

Keep that up (we’d do well) and we finish on 86 points. Would mean Wycombe would need to get only 18 points from their 12 games. It isn’t going to happen.

Even if we drop to 2ppg (more realistic) and finish on 77 points, I think we’ll comfortably be in the play offs and be in great form post Evatt (43 points from the 20 games).

I suppose you can adjust that slightly by factoring our game against them.

We have to win in in reality, and in doing so, provides a double whammy!

It shows the impact of "6 pointers" that if we had only drawn at home to Huddersfield and Charlton (which would be the minimum results we'd get if played under SS) we'd be on 59 points, with a GD of 10 instead of 5.  Charlton would be on 57, Huddersfield would be on 56 with a GD of 11 instead of 15.  We effectively gave them 4 points that day.

We were well beat by Huddersfield, and it hadn't reached the tipping point of Evatt needing to go.

By Charlton it was inexcusable he was still here and we were just throwing the season down the toilet. So I agree, that's a 6 pointer we hopefully don't look back at with regret.

Wow, another strange interpretation there. Gave someone 4 points.

Orient gave us 6!

Doesn't do your health any good looking back too much.

Just look at what is to come, and what we can achieve! :)

I've got plenty more where that came from 😀

On Orient, the difference for me is I'd expect that if we played them again next week we'd win (could be wrong).  If we played Hudds and Charlton at home they wouldn't be going away with 6 points between them.  But I'll try not to comment on previous games in future!
