Not sure he welched out in any way- he said he was ok- simply shouldn't have done so following his and cocked up the plans. That pissed him off.

Listening to that, I think he was more disappointed with Randall, who cried off.

Quite a statement though to say we need better players: a gamble he can now take given the season is almost over.

A chance for the players to respond or expect to to be phased out.

You and @Casino might be right. I think the issue now is we’re all, me included, reading into everything SS is saying and cooking it with different answers. I interpreted it that he was disappointed with Tutu. But without any context I could’ve misread it.

I do think he’s one of those that needs to add a bit of desire to his game regardless.

And yes, he’s clearly seen enough of these players. We do need better ones. I’m intrigued what Sharon thinks of him throwing the play off towel in despite it still being (theoretically) possible.

Can’t remember a player I’ve took an irrational dislike to like I have with McAtee.    Everything about him pisses me off. His socks, his shit waddle/jog, fucking no headers, his shit Amish bea

  • He was bang on when he said that to do well in this league you need pace and physicality and we have neither. By design! Because we had people who thought they knew better. It beggars belief what

  • League two, at best? So you believe he’s basically a non league footballer? As has been said, he’s been picked regularly by successive managers, subject of a 7 figure bid from a Championship club

I read it as disappointment/frustration with Tutu as well

100%

Thomason was head & shoulders our best player,& 1st half at least, the defence played well, Forino especially.

Even though i agree that I wouldn't be that upset at anyone leaving, talk of a mass clearout is over the top. Since IE went, we've drawn at Wrexham, beat Uddersfield & Birmingham & ground out wins at previously jinx grounds Burton & Wigan. There's a lot of the makings of a good team in the squad, but as we can all see, it's lacking some physicality/ pace /mental toughness that needs adding.

& Wycombe...they were better than some people are saying........very little flair but a strong defence, hard working, physical midfield, a threat from set pieces & a good striker .(though Forino dealt with him well ) Good enough to go up but too limited for the championship.

I just seen a stat that if you add up all the attendances from this season's home matches, over half a MILLION Wanderers supporters have turned up in the 3rd division for potentially a 10th placed finish.

These sets of wet wipes don't deserve the support. Let down time and time again, enough is enough.

Or not...even ESL was half empty yesterday.  Cheap STs, folk pick and choose games.

Yep. And at the risk of being a pedant, it’s not half a million supporters. It’s around 30,000 supporters who’ve turned up once, twice or twenty times.

Our support is good at this level. As is our ability to massage those attendance numbers.

Agreed its all about context, how much we paid for them (salary/transfer fee) and what league we were in - but I'd also add that there are players that were bad for us (Jemson, Andrews, Garvan) but proven elsewhere, and then players that are/were just bad, full stop.  Garvan played about 250 championship games for Ipswich and Palace, scored 25 goals, clearly we didn't see the best of him.  Charles is probably on Huddersfield fans list of  "worst ever" but it doesn't mean he was always terrible.

Then we have Etete and Dan Nlundulu....that is a whole different level, where the mystery is how they have ever got to make it as pro's at L1 level at least, and more worryingly for us, how BWFC saw fit to sign them, in Dan's case for good money.  SS takes a small amount of criticism there too, no justification for him coming on at Reading at 0-0 about a day after signing, as others have said we'd be level on points with them now (not that we deserve to be in the play offs, let's just get this sorry season finished asap).

Etete and Nlundulu are in Djibril Diawara territory bad

Defence and deeper midfield still conceded 2 soft goals.

Bit harsh. One was set piece which ended up with the wrong player marking a giant and the 2nd was just a classic breakaway in the last minute when we were throwing everything forward.

Skimmed through most of the thread and ive got to say the chap having a pop at GT?

Fucking hell, its division 3 and he was easily our best yesterday

In fact, id say the defence, matete and the captain deserve no criticism re effort

The rest of em offered fuck all so its a tough gig playing 7 v 11

Back seven, nothing much to fault, front four non existent. Only pass I'd give was to Dempsey, clearly not fully fit.

Thomason made at least four big runs in first half to get tackles in, block crosses or draw fouls when they were threatening to break. Had a decent shot, a couple of good forward runs and some decent passes, all before half time. Kept trying to push us forward late on. He's not Declan Rice but he's also not our biggest issue by a long way.

If you had stopped there, id give you a 👍

I think it’s plain to see some are going through the motions the manager said himself were are the tackles flying in took a kid to show them .
Santos against Barnsley last week he dialled the performance in . I don’t blame him with regards to not wanting to get injured when your leaving.  he would t of been near the side if it were not for injuries

it’s the ones that are still going to be here next season are the worry with recent performances we have played teams with nothing to play for and have been out fought unforgivable

Absolutely, he was clearly annoyed with him. I just don't think it was because he regards him as soft, as the lad put his hand up to play. Just frustration at him not being honest.

I got the impression he was pissed off with Randall though for saying he wasn't fit enough; maybe he thinks he was being soft and welching out.

As did I

And if i am right, then he needs to pick different targets

The lad said he wanted to play and I for one cant fault him for thst

Exactly, and I don't think that was the nature of the manager's ire. Just that Tutu shouldn't have declared himself fit, then have to come off, throwing the plans out of the window.

Absolutely no width once tutu came off.

With him, schon and CMG injured its going to be the same for the next 3

I would exspect any pro footballer to want to play. Should it not be a decision for the medical staff.

Not entirely.

The player himself has to be aware of exactly how bad or otherwise the injury is.

If it's a bang on a muscle with swelling for example, although medical staff can scan it, the actual severity is felt by the player.

He has to be honest with himself, his teammate, and the manager.

A break, ruptured tendon etc, are fairly obvious.

I sensed Tutu told them it was a hamstring issue when it was a recurrence of the knock from last week. And i sense SS has deliberately gone public.

If the scan shows nothing, the lad will be in a bit of bother. There’s a player in there with him, but he needs to sharpen up and show more desire, or he may be another casualty of the revolution.

Isn't showing a desire to play a positive? Not sure what he's done wrong other than getting injured twice? Obviously if he said he was fit and he wasn't SS won't be too happy, but it's better than ducking out of games/training at the merest hint of an injury.

Great post and I agree. Thomason was great yesterday,  best he has played in a long while and only one who really showed much desire.

It is so frustrating as so many issues and problems on display that we looked to have moved beyond once Evatt left but have crept back in.

Whilst so many players are weak and struggle, we know they have the technical ability. We have to hope that creating a strong spine with experience,  leadership, guile will create the resolve and unity we need to start seeing the best from those others.

Whilst McAtee was absolutely abysmal yesterday I still want to see him here next season as he has something, we have only seen it fleetingly though. I also think Randall can play a part. However SS needs to find the right approach for the league, build what he can from what we have with 5-6 new additions and if they don't make the cut I won't be worried. I do hope the transfer approach changes and we will see some older heads or journeymen to get us out of the league.

Running around like a headless chicken is not desire and doesn't constitute playing well. He was rubbish yesterday. His passing was off, he hid second half and barely touched the ball. No Sheehan no Morley, captain should step up. He did fuck all like the rest of them.

I'd also give a bit of a pass to Lolos.  Played out of position.  Firstly expected to play as a centre forward (how would Tomo, Morley or Sheehan do there?).  Then right wing, which is a bit nearer to his midfield position, but again not where he should be playing.  He's a central midfielder, and has shown a bit of ability in previous games ie one of the few players that can head a ball, and that goal v Barnsley which was well taken.

When he leaves in the summer (on loan probably), I'd expect him to be half decent at L1 level, if he can play in midfield.  I think his body language was poor yesterday, but he looked resigned to the fact that SS doesn't rate him and playing him out of position was just confirmation that he's on his way, not sure how committed I'd feel in that situation either.

I've got a memory like a sieve and even I can remember at least a dozen good passes and controlling the ball in tight areas under pressure and maintaining possession.   Mainly the 1st half but he definitely turned up in the last quarter of the game too when we were chasing the game, drove the team forward.  I'm all for varied opinions and seeing the game differently, but hard to see how anyone missed Tomo's contribution yesterday.

Maybe if we wore his socks a bit lower down he'd called out for being shit a bit more often.

I really dont know where youre going with this but if its about effort youre on thin ice with Thomasson

Perhaps. I’m probably confusing issues.

If he’s said he wants to play when deep down he knew he shouldn’t, it’s probably somewhere between selfish and wanting to do the right thing. But without any of us knowing the full story, we’re guessing a little.

The desire bit was more my observation of his all round game. The lad has a lot of talent, and ‘could’ play at a higher level, but I think he could be a much better player if he showed more ‘fight’. He’s often on his heels and then doesn’t do enough to win the ball back in my opinion. Not rhe worst by any stretch, but fairly typical of the ‘type’ IE signed.

Just seen that in 25 minutes, plus extra, Etete touched the ball 6 times. None within 25 yards of their goal.
