For those talking up Blackpool's poor start - this is the one game for which they will gather themselves and circle the wagons. We need to match that mentality. Will we?

Surely managers that used to be commanding CBs and captains must be great at making their teams defensively solid and tough to break down.

In football forum terms you give the impression of having something of a god complex. 

We all have our own ways of supporting our football clubs, we all have different histories with them. None of them are wrong.

I think bar the Barnsley game where I predicted us to lose.

These games are what it's all about.

People live and work amongst fans from other local clubs.

OK it's "only a game" but the games can set the mood for the forthcoming days, and even beyond.

The highs and lows are magnified, and having to put up with braggards can grind a person down.

Time to get a win here.

I've never measured big and/or local wins against how many fans I know of other clubs, usually very few and I've no desire to gloat to any of them.

But looking at our history, wins v Man U are etched on my mind - where, when, scorers, atmosphere - and they were definitely worth more to me (and I'd say the club) than the points won.  Beating Coventry away would give us the same points as the Worthy double at OT, or the Nolan or Ricketts goals.

Man U is probably top of the famous league wins list, and others work down in order of perceived importance.  For me personally Blackpool is in there somewhere, certainly above Burton and Northampton.  

Up until the last couple of years I had no idea it'd been so long since we'd won at Blackpool.

People thought Forino bundling one in at Wigan had some great significance for us a club and where we were going. We've won two games since. It's just 3pts.

That's a separate issue, nobody said that because we'd won at Wigan, we'd turned a corner from a below-par team to a good one did they?  They took it as us finally beating Wigan, nothing more or less.  Unless I'd misinterpreted it and everyone thought we were going to get promoted because we'd won?  I didn't take it that way at all. 

If there’s such a thing as divine intervention then we might be in with a shout.

Big Chris loved this fixture, despite all the defeats. 

Enjoyed his day out in Blackpool, which is what we’ll be doing regardless of the result.

It was absolutely said that beating Wigan showed that SS's team was different to IE's. Stronger mentally, more able to get up for these types of games. And yes I think people expected us to kick-on from that point and at least make the play-offs (that result moved us to 6th).

I think people give greater significance to what these results mean for the season than they deserve.

It had major significance because it meant to so much to the fans.

Take a look at those limbs and scenes after the game and tell me it was just another 3 points.

Absolute bollocks.

Football is built on tribalism and emotion.

 

Take it back to losing to Blackpool and Wigan in a week the season before.

We never recovered. The fans never recovered and either did the players and Evatt.

They weren't just run of the milk defeats. They were gut wrenchers for everyone involved and our weak as piss frailties came to the fore once again in the biggest of games.

The fact they are awful makes me more worried than anything else as we've seen too often in recent years, our local rivals have had the better of us, even when they have been utter shit.

This game is the perfect game for them to get back into form and to save Steve Bruce. All of this and the fact that we haven't bleeding won there since the same year that Star Wars first came out just gives me anxiety.

But enough of that, as pointed out by others, it's a whole new team and manager. Yes it's been a miserable place to go, but for once I'd like to see us just take the frigging initiative and use the situation to our advantage, which we hardly ever do.

They will be on their teams back in an instant if things dont go well. Instead of conceding early, giving away penalties, red cards like we have done in the past.

Can we start positively but actually show some ruthlessness in front of goal and take the lead?Then let them come onto us and smash them on the counter. 

It's always frustrating when we make things extra difficult for ourselves. Like the Lincoln game, going a goal down to a team like that, that early, just asking for a difficult rest of the game.

I'm sure I don't need to remind the players as they will be aware and will be feeling positive. History aside, Blackpool are a struggling side with 4 losses to their name already.

Punish them, make them suffer! 

Enough of us being a "nice team", easy on the eye but no killer instinct. It's time to change that.

The lad they got from Stockport is fit for this apparently. They've had massive struggles at centre half.

Bruce has also been playing midfielders at full back for some reason.

....a few have said they'd rather lose so he gets sacked.

Horsfall was fit for their first game and they conceded three at home to Stevenage. He is not the quickest. 

Or is that a case of me clutching at straws before a game at Bloomfield Road again. 

I trust Ennis is still suspended? Pretty sure they have not scored since he was out of the side.
