  • It’s a farce this cup. Great to see us scoring for fun, but it’s a farce

  • Aye. It’s absolute balls.   And then have the brass neck to tell the lower league clubs what sort of strength teams they need to play? Fuck off.

  • This cup is detrimental if you're half way into the season playing SAT/TUE/SAT with an injury hit squad struggling to get players out but in our case at this stage of the season it's a needed thing, w

Christie looks good again.

Made some good passes but defensively not that good

Dempsey on for 2 nd half

We should be confident already, because we are good enough.  We don't need to beat some kids to get some misplaced confidence, that's done by getting results in proper games (not having a dig at you BTW, I just find the confidence thing from these games a bit over-rated, the players know these games are glorified training exercises).

I suppose it gives the coaches a better look at fringe players and if they'll be up to snuff if called upon. And those players who impress chance to impact the match day 18

Like a friendly would. It’s pointless this fixture/tournament

We’re a bit off it so far second half. Warren and Dalby both seem to be struggling, the others doing ok but passing not quite right. Demps looks very short of match fitness. McAtee looks surprisingly sharp. All can change of course.

I suppose it's got a bit more bite than a friendly. A drawn out Charity Shield is probably closer than just friendlies.

Agree 100% never been to a game since they put the u21s in.

Yeah not disputing that, and they'll assess them in all sorts of situations from training matches to B team games to 1st team games, I do get the use and purpose of these teams.  But the confidence gained from these nothing matches is probably a myth, they'll have forgotten about it by Thursday.

Saying that I'm pleased for Dempsey getting some sort of game to show he's still around.

He's looked pretty sharp every game this season I've seen him upto now (not that many admittedly). Saying that the 2nd half is the quietest I've seen from him this season, hardly involved.

I'd wager it's humbling for the teams. U21 at city and getting hammered by a mid table 3rd tier team..

You might think you're good but in the big pond you're bang average

Assume Dempsey gets back into the match squad, who's dropping out?

Are we in a situation where 2 of our most expensive players Mcatee and Randall are both left out of the squad?

See I think this tournament is perfect for League one and two clubs to bed in fringe players at the start of the season with this group stage, and then a potential great day out as the prize.

The only change needed is to bin off the academy teams and include the top 8 from the conference instead.

Cissoko has been poor and Taylor not looking like he is ready to shift Max anytime soon. Been wide open on our left numerous times

Forino has been a bit sloppy with his passing. Demps showing some glimpses of what he can bring. Generally we’re still not on it.

Some players should be staking a claim for a starting place, not poncing about.

Forino looks awful on the left hand side

It's a friendly against a bunch of kids

No one's arsed

It's a non starter

It’s minutes in legs and an opportunity regardless of who we’re playing.

Yeah, I agree with all of that.  I was only disputing the "we'll get a load of confidence from beating kids" thing.  No different to winning a friendly or a B team game.  I'd argue winning a friendly against someone like PNE gave us more confidence, at least it was against a 1st team (but counted for zero when Stockport beat us in the 1st real game).

It's a run about. Game was done after 20 mins

Opinions aren't being formed after playing a bunch of children

Just relax

Only thing I look at is if we pick any injuries up apart from that not interested in the tournament. Would rather we played as many B team players as we could to have a look at them the likes of smith impressed last time out

They improved 2nd half, their keeper made 3 good saves from Dalby twice and Dempsey but 2nd half was a bit like Wigan a couple of levels down performance wise, not much you can take from a game like this but some decent performances,

McAidoo their sub looks to have something about him

Taylor and Sissico have been bobbins

Im very relaxed. Some good things and some not so good that’s all. Was hoping to see more from some players an I imagine Schumacher was hoping for the same.

Positives Win, clean sheet Dempsey Return, Dalby first goal  and   Mcatee  attitude.  No real negatives other than nobody doing enough to give Schumacher thoughts to change the team for Saturday.......Would give Mcatee a place on the bench over Randal who looks disinterested.
