not as ridiclous as having to go to a 4th tie

We played on 2 consecutive Thursday nights IIRC, I remember the Radio Manchester commentator (Alan Fullelove?) saying its Thursday, it must be Bolton v Swindon!  And the last 3 ties went to extra time.  Never a suggestion that either side might rest any players with league games a couple of days later probably.

We played 8 league cup ties that season only got to the 3rd round.

For that 'offside' was there some kind of backlash towards it afterwards?, love how the presenter says take note of the player as he's offside without saying what a pathetic call, like him or the people responsible for his autocue thought it was legit, great strike, surely the ref off picture had a decent view of it.

It's how the rule was. It was very didactic but a club won some & lost some. Today's is much better* as it allows a player not interfering to be ignored.

In our Div.2 title winning season we had a fantastic shot fron Neil Whatmore ruled out at White Hart Lane. Some time later Neil McNab, then of Spurs, had an equally fantastic shot disallowed coz someone out on the wing was a few inches further forward of him.

Swings & roundabouts in a way, but limiting flare & ability.

*Note. The overenginered VAR micromanaging is shite & not in the spirit of things nor the 'clear & obvious' intent we were assured it was for.

Crikey, there were very brief highlights, with the commentator simply describing the action at that moment. The commentary being added later.

He wasn't there to analyse and give opinion, simply to describe the coverage.

It was the presenter (Roger Malone) describing the action in the studio, just felt like he was saying it was offside when he said take note, but I can see perhaps he was just saying that was the reason for it being not given,

and as mentioned previous the rule was by the law correct I guess

why Chesterfield v Doncaster and Salford v Leyton? surely our game is more appealing given positions, tryna not be bias like.

Especially as Orient were on TV in the 1st round (Tamworth away), that's a nice £120k gift to them from the FA.

And they get an extra day's rest before the Tuesday night league games!

Another wierd one is Slough v Macclesfield, not sure what the angle is there, we already know a non league club will be in the 3rd round, we don't need to watch it!  And likely to be on TV in next round too.

This means I’m more likely to attend. I don’t know whether that’s a good or bad thing! 😆

I watched it in a bar in Magaluf, rough as fuck on a stag do. Early kick off, too. Was literally the only person in there.

No.

Friday - Salford

Saturday - Sutton plus Chesterfield

Sunday - Slough, Boreham Stiff, Gateshead and Blackpool

Monday - Brackley.

Re tv I reckon Blackpools visit to the Reebok is a nailed on TV game.

Then you can do something else, if it's not compulsory!

I doubt any second round match will have a great pull on viewers.

Aye

Couldn't say for sure if I'd watch our game so there's fuck all chance I'm watching any of the others

Even in the 3rd round

Tamworth v Spurs

United v Slough

Etc

It's Papa Johns territory

No thanks

He's gonna go full on Mourinho down the touchline if they win isn't he

I've watched some of the early round before, but just not arsed this season.

You know it.

Cock out, the lot. Straight over to the east stand.

Despite the TV selects, I’m still waiting to book anything until they confirm Saturday 3pm!

Giving it the Klopp style three fist pumps to the away end 🤢

Can't argue with that and there's no danger of me watching that or any other 2nd round tie that doesn't involve us (I enjoy the MOTD goals round up though).

I just don't know why they'd expect more neutrals to be watching that than a potential giant killing eg Swindon v Bolton. And if next to no neutrals would watch either, at least our game involves 2 clubs with a relatively large fan base guaranteeing some interest.  I don't care, I'm just surprised.
