Yeah but they're not an anomaly. There's always a team getting around their level of points leading the way. 

It's like saying if Portsmouth weren't there (getting 97 points) 2 years ago we'd have gone up. 

I mean it's technically correct but I don't see what the argument is other than "If better teams than us weren't in the division we'd be the best"

Up as champions, but the doubters are claiming that was the bare minimum, I’m pissed off we didn’t with the Vertu trophy and play Man Utd on the 3rd round of the FA Cup 😂

Great post and agree with it, but just on that bit, I'd say not creating chances has been our achilles heel.  Some of the away games have been painful.  Just some excitement at the likes of Port Vale, Doncaster, Burton and Northampton would have been an improvement, but the keepers may as well have stayed at home in too many games this season.

It was a year ago, and we got Taylor in on a long contract. TBH I don't think he's quite as far behind the others as he's been painted, I've seen a lot worse, but whether he's Greenidge standard or Ricky Gardner standard, SS isn't even putting him in the squad ahead of kids, so by his own admission that's another signing/position he's ballsed up, to add to RB.

The priority has to be getting someone who can recruit better, we're kidding ourselves if we think just having another go at in the summer is going to fill in the blanks in this squad.

Context is that today isn't exactly rare.

We can all see that good times have occurred, and more often than bad, however its not good enough if the club's owners and investors expect us to go up. 

As for today, I wasn't expecting anything other than a defeat and, probably worse, wasn't expecting us to offer much whatsoever. 

On our day we can beat anyone, but we can also lose to anyone. Therein lies the issue.

This will always perplex me but why would you having gotten comfortably promotion at Plymouth in League 1, playing 3421 would you come here and play 4231, especially when your Implementation of it within the Chamipionship with Plymouth failed so bad you had to revert back? 

I don't get it, especially when were so limited in the middle and wings through injury. Can anyone explain it?

Opposite me on the train going back to London was Forino and ACD 

Forino was a nice bloke, said were weren't at the races, really apologetic 

ACD didn't say much and got off at Swindon

Its exactly how we started the season, away from home.  We've been different at home for much of the season.  Away - started at Stockport, then Barnsley, Blackpool, Orient, Northampton, Burton.  Mostly painful.  Decent at Hudds and Luton, then slow at Mansfield, Wycombe, Doncaster and Peterboro.  Decent at Wigan, slow again at Stevenage, Etc.  Very poor.

I wrote an article a few years ago about Bolton's red and blue striped kit and was pretty annoyed at the amount of editing they did to it so it went down in my estimations, but its still alright.

In going to respond to the letter about the 92. Im old enough that I give a shit about this kind of thing now.

OK to be more accurate, we didn't play so slowly so often, in fact in our early aways we could count ourselves unlucky I recall. We played much more positive than now but lacked the result or more probably the required quality. Now we play m more like Evatt and get the same end result, a loss.

Yes some at the back end of last season, I can't remember who he deliberately left out to give them a chance or if they were to cover for injuries, but yes last season we got to see some of the youngsters.

Fair response!  Although 20 appearances in 2 years suggests maybe it wasn't for him.  Just as Burstow and Simons played in the championship for Hull.  Can only judge them off what we've seen playing for us and they are L1 players, I don't think anyone would dispute that, no disgrace in that but if we go up they aren't coming with us based on what we've seen.

Agree completely.  Just saying however confident they are, won't alter the fact that they won't play for us in the championship, in the majority of cases.

They will all have the self belief and drive to believe that they will be the exceptions and let's hope they get the chance to find out.

Because each season is a season in its own right, with differing strength between the clubs

Some seasons the spread of talent will be quite even, others more concentrated, and that will have an impact on points total

It's eaually daft to claim progress simply because the season after we finished fifth we finished third
