Bradford Home - 1st Leg Saturday 9th May

Same process as before - you can secure your own seats.

Need to put yesterday’s disappointment behind us and fill the place.

Let’s take a good lead over to Bradford.

On the piss in the afternoon prior to an 8pm kick-off on a Saturday, should make it a belting atmosphere under the lights.

COYFWM 👏

Johnston gets a lot of shit, he was great tonight and clearly really fired up for it. The right attitude for the next two games.

Other than a few early misplaced passes I thought Erhahon contributed really well to a hard working, dominant, midfield performance. I just love the balance and protection he brings to that left side.

But I’ll also give Simons a lot of credit too. I’ve re-watched the game this afternoon, he got some vital challenges and clearances in.

Similarly both Mcatee and Dalby had fine cameos too.

I am putting the main reason GJ played well was because he did not have to worry if he stepped up nobody would cover behind. EE give him that confidence.....As well as Sheehan or RR do in midfield they both venture forward more than EE and  if the ball is knocked over the top usually our two midfielders plus Johnson are caught upfield but EE usually hangs back to cover

I thought EE was immense, dropped into the back line when needed, broke play up in midfield and put pressure on them constantly.

Obv fitness is an issue but he does get around.

For me, him and Simons are very similar players, that being Simons is better on the ball, EE better at breaking it up.

I don't think we'd see them both on the pitch at the same time as they're similar, just glad to have them both back.

Did anyone see Apter having a fitness test/training alone before kick off..

One player always does Ritchie was doing it a few games ago its so that if we get an injury in the warm up that player can come straight onto the bench

Captain and first choice in a new defence next season

I don't know if he's out of contract (presume not) but there are at least 3 reasons he'll be here if SS is: 1.  He's a left footed CB 2. He can also play LB at a decent level, so can cover 2 positions unlike say Forino or Dalby 3. He hasn't been dropped once this season, a virtual ever present.  If SS only keeps 2 under contract players next season it will be Sheehan and GJ, IMO.

Sheehan signed a new contract around August/September time... TuTu, GJ, Dempsey and Christie are all out of contract and i would thank everyone of them then move them on.

I think we need to sign a real leader and captain, we have not had a natural leader for a while. Dump this leadership group idea.

I'm not trying to be a Sarcevic fan here, I didn't care that he left as I was happy with our replacements.  But if he's scored 11 in a bad team, that hardly creates anything, how many would he have got in our team?  (we finished below them but we'll go with we are better).  The comment was that he wouldn't get on our bench, I'd say you could do worse than bringing him on as a 10 for the last 20 minutes when chasing a goal.  Not for me to say who instead of, but its harsh to play down his impact this season when we aren't blessed with goalscoring midfielders.  And that fully fit squad - that would be great!

Would you have him above   Kenny,  Dalby in the forward position, Maybe at the ten  instead of RR ...Central Midfield which is where he has played most of his career would you have him instead of Sheehan or EE

This is Bradfords best player......Yet foolishly we are going to Bradford without our best team because we took a risk at home to Luton

Haven't seen the relative heat maps, but I'd wager EE was typically further forward than Sheehan.

May well have set myself up to be proven wrong, but that's how I saw it.

We're back to assuming that every player plays every minute of every game over the course of a season.

We've given a combined 185 appearances to Dempsey, Simons, Apter, Randall, McAtee & Forss. I'm sure we'd have found minutes for Sarcevic, and a few other Bradford players too.

May edge Walker over Bonham, Certainly both wing backs Naufville and Wright are a upgrade on ours. Power of old but not now and Pointon are the only ones i would take

Sheehan drops back to take the ball in space agreed but i am talking about when GJ moves forward past the half way line

Sheehan moves up with him but EE tends to cover for George......Worked well Thursday

whenever they broke, Sheehan was usually first midfielder back there (as usual). A few times EE wasn't even in camera shot.

Interesting how we all see things so differently.

I do think we look a more solid side with a midfield 3, operating with the 6, 8, 10 (I know, I know), to give us balance. But we do look like it'll be at the expense of goals and I'm not sure Dalby can play up front on his own. His mobility would be an issue compared to Burstow..

It'll be interesting to see if he goes with Burstow off Dalby, or stick to the 4-2-3-1 from Thursday

I can’t see him doing that for 2 reasons.

1 - we were definitely more solid with 3 in midfield so I’d be surprised if he went the other way for the away leg

2 - if Dalby starts, he’s not doing 90 minutes and if you’ve got Burstow on from the start then your replacements are limited.

It’ll be the same team for me, with Dalby on earlier than Saturday.

Can't see any changes to the starting XI this week, which I think is absolutely the right call.

First 15 minutes will be huge, keep the ball a little, settle into the game and keep the crowd quiet. If we can nick a goal it will make the game so much more open.

Surprised to see us as the only side at home first leg to win.

The week's already dragging.

We need to attack like normal; trying to keep the ball and we will fuck up

Yep It’s dragging

I like the lad and he's been on the whole great for us. But we need better imo.

Luckily, as of right now, we don't need to score. Would keep the same formation for Thursday night.

On Thursday they could come out all guns blazing and try to overwhelm us. However I think they are equally likely to think ‘we only need 1 goal’ so let’s not give anything away and make sure we are in it with 70 minutes to go. They finished strongly in last 2 games.

Be surprised if we change anything from Saturday as Dalby must not be fit enough to start. The key thing imo is that the wingers provide us an outlet and do not get pushed back. The last thing we need is the defenders trying to play too much at the back, amazing how many chances at this level are created by mistakes rather than a piece of brilliance.

At some point will need people off the bench to also bolster us in some way.

I just wish ACDs shot was an inch to the right.

Of course.. I meant generally, as a shape, not specifically Thursday night.

Dalby has to start for me, he can make the ball stick

It's easily recycled with Burstow

It's a must win game, he has to start

I don’t think he lasts 90 minutes. So the choice is: start with him and then when we’re potentially on the back foot for the last 30 minutes have no way of going long to relieve pressure. Or bring him on for the last 30 mins to relieve pressure (and potentially for extra time)
