Politics - Part 2

Kemi Badenoch doesn’t really need to speak in public more than once a month and she’ll do ok. In that respect, keeping her head down is proving very effective.

Sniping from the sidelines and criticising everyone clearly has merit. 🙃

This is part 2 of the Politics discussion.

farage on Lucy Connolly

"What Lucy Connolly said in her X message, which was only visible for 3.5 hours may have been expressed inelegantly, but it was a sentiment that was being felt by a lot of the public at that moment, and it should not have been criminalized."

two tier Nigel

So if Lucy was jailed for her tweet what should happen to Polanski?

Nothing as he wasn't directly calling for the death of folk.

He accepted being tagged in a multiple picture post containing a picture of someone in a t-shirt that Nigel was threatened by.

BTW if Nigel is upset by that t-shirt there's plenty more graphic ones out there on the internet of him and Starmer, Polanski and other politicians.

He shared a picture of a man wearing a T shirt pretty much calling for the death of Farage. She shared a tweet calling for hotels to be set alight.

They're both dicks, but that's the joy of a cesspit like Twitter/X, folk think they can say and do what they like

I'm not sure she shouldn't have been put in prison though, even Farage said so at the time.

Sadly, this story is giving free airtime to the two most horrendous political "leaders" we have in the country at the minute - what a time to be alive

I think there is a lot of context being deliberately overlooked here and I am no fan of Polanski, he is a bit of a knob.

Suppose it depends on which angle you want to come from

If you think Lucy whoever should not have been sent down and it was the wrong decision, then don't send Polanski down as it keeps on repeating the same mistake every time this crops up and is a waste of police, court time etc, better things to be doing with police time

If you think she should have been sent down then send him down as it's only fair and shows consistency in the justice system

Agreed - as ever though, our judicial system is anything but consistent

I have to deal with legal stuff in work and if you want to say there's a precedent you'll use it if it gets the outcome you want

If you want to go against the precedent you'll say every case is judged on its merits and find technicalities as to how it's different

Folk much cleverer than me make a nice living out of stuff like that

I am not sure they are directly comparable but if they are in terms of the law then fair enough.

He didn't share it though.

He (foolishly in hindsight) accepted a tag into a set of photos from an event where the Green Party had a presence. Within that was a photo of a bloke in a questionable t-shirt.

Where he's really fucked up is not accepting he made a mistake and in the future making sure he checks posts he's agreed to be linked to.

I don't think they are either but there's folk who seem to think it is, so should let them answer

How does he unshare something he hasn’t shared

And Lucy Connelly didn't "share a tweet". She wrote it, and posted it.

Polanski and Farage at at Polar extremes of the political spectrum. And both should be rightly ignored

I don't do Instagram so is there a difference?

They are nt. people are trying to equate them as it plays to the two tier agenda, but I think most people can see it for what it is.

She said — Mass deportation now, set fire to all the fucking hotels full of the bastards for all I care... If that makes me racist, so be it.

And was charged and pleaded guilty to inciting racial hatred

Polanski shared a picture of a man wearing a t shirt with a slogan on and made no comment.

He is a knob but they are miles apart. There is no racial angle to it which in the eyes of the law is different. But also the severity is different.

Farages team cropped the picture so it was not clear it was something he had ‘joined in with’ (not sure what the actual phrase is on Instagram) . For them it must be nice to distract from the sea of sleeze and challenge of the bin. We should be grateful , Trump invaded Iran to distract from the Epstein files.

You can remove yourself from posts you are tagged in as you've been able to do since the early days of Facebook.

A minor one, but yes. The difference is; Polanski didn't look at that specific photo and decide to share it. The prat who posted the photo (along with 20 odd others in the same reel) sent Polanski a "collaboration request" and Polanski clicked 'accept' - presumably because they were photos from a party attended by Green campaigners.

Similar to the Facebook "Dave has tagged you in his post" only on insta as a verified account you have to accept the tag.

He fucked up by not checking the pictures but anyone claiming he's sharing calling for the murder of Nige is being a dick.

If any offence has been committed (do not think it has) . It would start with whoever produced the shirt, then who distributed it, then who wore it , then who posted pictures of it and then ZP.

Think it was from this place , which is in Leigh , shirt no longer available, surprisingly.

They are based at 15 Credability Street which made me smirk, despite the slightly different spelling. Sounds like somewhere Rick from the Young Ones would live.

👍

These days, if you say "Mass deportation now, set fire to all the fucking hotels full of the bastards for all I care" you get arrested and thrown in jail. These days.
