  • Exactly this. Honestly never seen a manager lose his fucking mind on the biggest of stages like that tonight. It's one thing letting the game pass you by and not reacting. But it's completely differen

Honestly, a lot of times when we go out in the latter stages, we've played well and just not had the bounce or whatever. But this was just craven and unnecessary. Semi final of the World Cup, go out

  • Get Tuchel sacked immediately. That's worse than any of Southgate's defensive horror shows. Completely gave the game away at 1 nil up, by stopping playing for 35 minutes.

The way I feel right now I wouldn't care if I never watched another game of football again.

Not really, the 3rd/4th place game will be shit, it always is, and I think I'd rather just go out on Saturday night instead.

The final doesn't have England in it, so I probably won't make the effort to sit down and watch it. I've barely watched any of the WC, if it doesn't involve England, then I'm generally not that fussed.

I do have an interest in the fact that I have Spain in a sweep, and I had a pre-tournament bet on Argentina, so I may well tune in at some point towards the end of the game, to see how financially well off I am

That's more like it. It's the WC Final FFS. We only get one every four years.

The highlighted bit, we are in the same situation. I got Spain in a sweep and have backed pre tournament both finalists to win the whole thing.

The financial thing isn't a worry for me. Fascination with how Argentina might seek to overcome Spain's 'keep ball' has me salivating for this game.

we do, I did watch the last one, but prior to that I reckon the last one I purposely sat down and watched all 90 minutes of was 1990, Germany v Argentina....now that was absolute dogshit

It's a bit like Match of the Day, or whatever it's called these days, I've not watched a single one since Bolton left the Premier League, and have probably watched no more than a handful of PL games (the full 90 minutes) on TV since

Don't think I've ever been that wound up by a England game. The sheer stupidity and cowardice of the decisons. I can take being a bit shit but that was just a massive waste.

No idea what point he's trying to make? waffling in circles

Yeah, best way to stop them scoring was to retain possession and we had what, 12% after we scored.

Was inevitable wasn't it ? 🤦‍♂️

Yeah!

Sat there getting increasingly worried as they got deeper and stopped pressing.

Kane was like a magnet on an iron bridge and Bellingham was like one of those "ordinary" bunnies in the duracell advert.

Full backs got narrower, and midfielders stopped pressing.

Argies were known to keep going- Egypt showed that- and we played into their hands.

Going forward, we need to find a plan b and c.

Wide men on their right side maybe?

2 strikers at times?

Who knows, time will tell.

Both Center Backs were on cards and they'd just spent 45 mins trying to kick lumps off us they were that worried.

In the 5 minutes or so after we scored they got away with at least three dodgy moments in their own third. They were a bit rattled. Even if we'd kept at them till the water break we might have nicked a second or forced a mistake from one of those on a yellow.

Up to the water break it could be argued to be the players mentality, fatigue-driven panic etc (we've seen it with our lot at club level)

What happened at and beyond that break is squarely on the manager. The tools were there to get us in their half and give the defence breathers. He chose not to use them

He's liked to come across as one of the cerebral types, from a smarter tactical plane, what he did last night was League 2 level

"Fucking hell, that's a good shot. Let's let him have a few more goes and hope Pickford keeps saving them or he hits the post again..... Oh bugger.

Blimey, what an excellent pinpoint cross that is. Let's all get back in the box and watch him do it a few more times and hope nothing comes of it.... Oh bugger."

Konsa on for Gordon is the worst managerial decision in the history of English football.

How can we go through the next two years knowing he's got a night like last night in his locker?

He lost his fucking mind last night on the biggest of stages. When it mattered most.

Said to mates I was chatting with that at that very point we were done as he was going full on backs to wall. With what 25 plus minutes left 🤦‍♂️

I'll watch the final and will have got over this when that arrives, my fave player in Yamal vs the GOAT and his heir to the throne in the future, not arsed who wins, Messi as won it already, balon d'or maybe decided also with this game, as for the 3rd /4th losers games, not arsed, but Mbappe is 1 assist under Messi so expect him to want to play and smash us, we should give game time to the likes of Mainoo, Watkins etc who haven't played and have been pointless callups.

With you on this Sweep couldn’t give a toss who wins now I will not be watching it . I also don’t watch Match of the day or any premier league games my only interest is in the Wanderers. I haven’t watched a champions league final since the Liverpool comeback and as for the World Cup final can’t remember watching 1 for years.

"A number of sources have indicated to BBC Sport that a clutch of key players were left disappointed at how the team approached the final stages of the game. However, fresh comments from Tuchel have emerged in which he said that it was never the plan to drop deeper and that "it's maybe not in our DNA…to control the game and ball"."

The FA need to get rid asap. You don't give us a cat in hells chance of changing our 'DNA' with the subs he made. Absolute clown.

Well that was depressing couple of days North of Hadrian’s Wall

The more magnanimous locals summed it up nicely. They didn’t have a better squad or team than us but absolutely know how to win big games no matter what. We don’t.

I’m on a short notice and unexpected trip to the Costa Del Sol tomorrow. I’ll join the locals in hoping Spain win but suspect that they will be sharing my disappointment

A bit Mourinho-esque that, I told them what to do, they couldn't do it so I had to do something else I didn't really like, not my fault guvnor

That was spot on from Owen going back to his day. Unfortunately I remember a lot longer, as I presume plenty of others on here do 🙁

I think Tuchel's right about it not being in our DNA to control, to be fair

We still don't seem to produce the kind of midfield pivot to allow us do that, especially on that kind of stage

We've no Modric, no Rodri, no Busquets, etc.

But our way forward was to hit them on the break and instead we decided to sit very deep and keep bringing defenders on

Hopefully Anderson getting a year to train and play with Rodri will be enough for him to learn the role.

Seeing as FIFA look like they are going to do fuck all over the flag, maybe we should walk out in Falkland t shirts before the third place match , just to boil the Argies piss.

I doubt they'll be watching, I know I won't

They'll get a fine after the tournament as they do have form for it, but no players will get banned or them kicked out

How very nationalistic my friend.

You're growing on me 😜

to many battle scars on this lot now

if I was TT, i'd move away from, pickford, stones, kane etc
