bwfczoe Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Jeysus be careful there you will have people thinking your a Bolton fan Cant we just get behind the team instead of slaggin off every player we have in our squad Were supposed to be fans not critics - yes players have bad games but get behind them not on their backs
Smiley Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 WTF was Jussi doing for their 2 goals? Bring back Kevin Poole!

Thing is, imagine if you were a Villa fan. We didnt play that well on Saturday yet controlled the 2nd half and should have won it by 3 or 4 in the end. To play that bad away from home and come away with a point yet dominate a match shows how far we have come and gives us all something to look forward too for the rest of the season. Imagine what is going to happen once we click - Everton???

marple whites Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 If any one had offered a point before the game you would have took it ! 2 hours 45 to get there, raining cats and dogs, stelios rumours, couldn't park and one nil down inside 2 minutes, the omens looked poor. Come on, be happy with a point and get behind the lads !!!

Smiley Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Sat in the pub watching the dodgy satellite - Nolan nearly scores with a back post header and guy next to me says - "when did Nolan come on, who's he replaced". Think it summed up his performance. Did feck all, missed an easy header and scored another with a deft touch that was more luck than skill. Why no Vaz Te when we were on top - even for the last 10 mins?
george Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Drawing at Aston Villa on the opening day of the season is a good achievement. A big club like them would expect to beat a club of our spending power at home with 30,000 fans behind them. Thats the 2nd time in our Premier league history that is been 2-2 at half time on the opening day....remarkable.

Smiley, not having a go at you for not being there as I know you normally do, but you must have seen a different game than we did from the actual game. Nolan was one of our better players without doubt - worked his ??rse off (maybe off camera?) and did much covering of others putting in some very important challenges. Him and Haim were our best players for me.

Fengshui Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 So did any of our players have a good game? - we only seem to pick out the bad bits.
Guest Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 So did any of our players have a good game? - we only seem to pick out the bad bits. IMO others may disagree.... Nolan & Davies were my MoM. Both were tireless in their running and tackling and both on another day could have had 2 goals each. Diouf - Although lacked a little end product sometimes, was typical Diouf and a handful and always looked dangerous and gave us a good get out ball. Speed - Led by example and covered lots of the park Jardi & Ben Haim - after first 10 mins Villa had one more effort (off target) says it all really - Jardi was a massive threat at the other end. Jay Jay - did alright IMO. 2 or 3 super cross field passes in which 2 should have resulted in goals. His other cross field pass people around me started slagging him off as they thought he had given the ball away only for it to be inch perfect to Diouf's feet. Jussi - after first goal (nothing he could do on 2nd) commanded his area well, made a smart save at Phillips feet and dealt with everything else that came at him (crosses) very well - one or two kicks went for throwins but I thought he looked more assured with his kicking overall No-one was at their best which is not surprising seen as though its first game of the season, the rest looked rusty but contributed in some way to a very good first day result.
