bwfc_sue Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 I never know this as they don't have the price on them anymore. Think they are due to go up shortly though.

Jol_BWFC Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 A first class stamp? 32p? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4870010.stm The cost of a UK first-class stamp has risen by two pence to 32p, the second price rise by Royal Mail in three years. Second class stamps rise to 23p.
bwfczoe Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Sorry I mis-read Micksy original post THe cost of both 2nd and 1st class stamps has already gone up to 32p and 23p respectively

Happy Wanderer Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 The 1st and 2nd class margin widens so that Royal Mail can eventually get rid of 2nd class all together in an attempt to steamline processing in the mail centres.
Bea Smith Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 The 1st and 2nd class margin widens so that Royal Mail can eventually get rid of 2nd class all together in an attempt to steamline processing in the mail centres. i wouldve thought it would be easier to narrow the margin between the 2, so that people will buy a 1st class anyway if its only 2/3 pence more than a second class. people will make a fuss if its phased out now and its costing them an extra 9 p to send a letter, whereas if they graduallly closed the price s of 1st/2nd no one would give a hoot when they phased them out. p.s- were lucky if we get our post, a different postie everyweek. reckon im scarin em in the mornings with my fluffy bedsocks???
alibob Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 I can't remember the last time I used a stamp... good old email eh?
Bea Smith Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 as i usually buy mine in bulk along with paying bills / car tax etc i havnt known the price of them for years. think they took the prices off stamps cos it made them out of date once prices had been updated.
Gonk Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 The 1st and 2nd class margin widens so that Royal Mail can eventually get rid of 2nd class all together in an attempt to steamline processing in the mail centres. New rules from later in the year, based on size as well as weight. They call it more logical pricing, and 70 percent of letters will be the same price. That means 30% will cost more. http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content...ediaId=21100324
Traf Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Stamps are legal tender. If you bought some 1st class stamps at 30p last week, they are worth 32p each now: an easy risk-free 6.66% profit.
