Whites striker blasts decison

 

HENRIK Pedersen has been reported as saying a decision by Sam Allardyce to go back on a verbal agreement and not renew his contract at the end of the season is "totally disrespectful".

 

Pedersen is quoted in a Danish newspaper as saying that he had a verbal agreement with the Bolton manager that his contract, which expires in the summer, would be extended by 12 months.

 

Pedersen is quoted in BT, one of Denmark leading national newspapers, as saying: "He has now gone back on his word and I think that is totally disrespectful and shows a lack of class. I have told Sam Allardyce that in my world a verbal agreement is as binding as a written agreement.

 

"The manager's answer was that that it's like that everywhere else in English football and that he had a change of mind because I played so poorly in the first-half against Manchester United at Old Trafford last month.

 

"I think that is a poor excuse and I find it hard to believe that the decision has been based on one half. It is now up to me to try and find another English club."

 

Wanderers refused to comment on the reports.

 

The Dane's successful recovery from the Achilles injury that plagued him for more than a year, has seen him re-establish himself in the first team, athough he was not included in the squad that beat Sheffield United on Saturday.

 

The Reebok club announced last month that Allardyce planned to open contract talks with the versatile 33-year-old player in the next few weeks, although the manager hinted that Pedersen's recent injury record could be reflected in any new contract offer he received.

 

Allardyce said: "His biggest problem has been the injuries that have kept him out, more than me leaving him out.

 

"I have to analyse over the last two years how often Henrik's been available to play. That's a key issue today in the Premiership as we look to keep smaller and smaller squads and need to keep players as fit as we possibly can."

 

Pedersen joined Wanderers from Silkeborg six seasons ago for ?650,000 and has made 167 appearances in all competitions and scored 29 goals.

Hopefully this is the start of the clear out so we can add to the squad for next season. I suspect Stelios and Fortune won't be far behind him.

just pointing out that, even when on the transfer list last season or the season before, no one has bid for henrik and tried to tempt him away, therefore, he's never to me shown loyalty

 

stelios on the other hand, he's shown loyalty yet this doesn't get mentioned this season now he's not scoring and people want to see the back of him

 

for the record, i don't mind henrik, but, he is the only player i've seen who has sliced a shot so badly wide the ref felt obliged to give a corner even though the nearest defender was about 5 yards away (Chelsea at home, 1st or 2nd season in the Prem)

 

I also think that unless we've got loads lined up to replace these lot, we shouldn't be looking to get rid of anyone, that said, our midfield is looking sh?gged this season yet thompson, tal and andranik are hardly getting a sniff, so even if we do keep half these players, will they get a game anyway

HENRIK Pedersen has been told there will be no change of heart after his furious outburst against Sam Allardyce.

 

The Danish international, who has spent six years at the Reebok, accused the Bolton boss of going back on a verbal agreement to give him a new one-year contract when his current deal expires in June.

 

He said the manager's handling of the situation had been "totally disrepectful" and showed "a lack of class".

Confirming that there would be no new deal for the 33-year-old striker, who has been used as an emergency left back in the last two seasons, Allardyce criticised the player for going public.

 

"Those discussions were private," the manager said.

 

"You can call me what you want in the privacy of being between four walls, but don't discuss it publicly. So I am disappointed, but that's life."

 

Asked if the comments that appeared in the Danish newspaper, BT, had sealed Pedersen's Reebok fate, Allardyce added: "We withdrew the contract before he made those comments."

 

Pedersen, who did not figure at all in the 16-strong squad for the Sheffield United game last weekend, was already resigned to this being his last season at Bolton.

I'm no great fan of Pedersen, but I make take you up on that b?llshit statement.

Henrik isn't shite and is a useful squad member. He may not be up to regular first team duties, but you can count on one hand the amount of times he's let us down since signing for us from a third rate league. As for him being a bad signing: ?650,000 for a player who became our top scorer in three successive seasons doesn't constitute bad business in my eyes.

I suggest you've spent too long up there with the porridge gobblers and need to get home asap.

I know we've had better players than Peds but i think the guys always tried his best for us and has paid his transfer fee back in spades.It looks like he's on his way out though as we have to look to the future and recruit better players than what we have already.Good luck Henrik i'll always have fond memories of your days at Bolton.

In his second season over here, when we stayed up at the expense of the East end mugs he scored some valuable goals.

 

There have been more prolific strikers, but he's played a big part in the continued success in recent seasons.

 

And for a clumsy Scandinavian striker, he deserves more credit for filling in at full back. Has had the odd poor game there, but you have to appreciate his willingness to play in such a different role. We have kept a fair amount of clean sheets with him at the back.

I agree with that. I've always liked him.

We have had hundreds of players at our club, less talented and less committed than our Henrik.

Had a brief chat with him and its pretty clear he will never play for Bolton again. The reports regarding the verbal agreement and retraction appear to be accurate. He talked about todays game like a fan and was very aproachable. Never the most talented of players but for me a 100%er and a dying breed. A certain Mr Anelka looked thoroughly p*ssed off to have to give up an hour of his time to mingle with the scum that pay his wages.

I tried talking to Henrik the other Saturday in Arkies but he couldn't understand a word, so i gave up. How you got that much converstaion out of him, i'll never know.
