HENRIK Pedersen has been reported as saying a decision by Sam Allardyce to go back on a verbal agreement and not renew his contract at the end of the season is "totally disrespectful".

 

Pedersen is quoted in a Danish newspaper as saying that he had a verbal agreement with the Bolton manager that his contract, which expires in the summer, would be extended by 12 months.

 

Pedersen is quoted in BT, one of Denmark leading national newspapers, as saying: "He has now gone back on his word and I think that is totally disrespectful and shows a lack of class. I have told Sam Allardyce that in my world a verbal agreement is as binding as a written agreement.

 

"The manager's answer was that that it's like that everywhere else in English football and that he had a change of mind because I played so poorly in the first-half against Manchester United at Old Trafford last month.

 

"I think that is a poor excuse and I find it hard to believe that the decision has been based on one half. It is now up to me to try and find another English club."

 

Wanderers refused to comment on the reports.

 

The Dane's successful recovery from the Achilles injury that plagued him for more than a year, has seen him re-establish himself in the first team, athough he was not included in the squad that beat Sheffield United on Saturday.

 

The Reebok club announced last month that Allardyce planned to open contract talks with the versatile 33-year-old player in the next few weeks, although the manager hinted that Pedersen's recent injury record could be reflected in any new contract offer he received.

 

Allardyce said: "His biggest problem has been the injuries that have kept him out, more than me leaving him out.

 

"I have to analyse over the last two years how often Henrik's been available to play. That's a key issue today in the Premiership as we look to keep smaller and smaller squads and need to keep players as fit as we possibly can."

 

Pedersen joined Wanderers from Silkeborg six seasons ago for ?650,000 and has made 167 appearances in all competitions and scored 29 goals.

based on that reasoning a lot of other players should be thankful that they are not out of contract this summer!!

Hopefully this is the start of the clear out so we can add to the squad for next season. I suspect Stelios and Fortune won't be far behind him.

You never can tell how much truth is in these stories, but for what its worth I think its time for Ped to move on. He's been a good servant, and when his days looked numbered as a forward he managed to get himself back in the team playing at LB. Which not many players would have been willing to do. However, he is very limited in terms of his ability, as top 6 club we need to have more quality in the squad.

Personally I always liked Henrik. Not blessed with huge talent or pace, but he put in tremendous effort and didn't moan in the press every 5 minutes when he was dropped.

But I don't like him talking to the Danish press about his situation, which I find just as disrespectful as BSA going back on his word, why blab in the press, its not going to improve his chances of staying. What he needed to do was make an impact on his return to the team and he simply did not do that.

However, Gardner was shocking against Sheffield Utd, so Allardyce has a choice. With 2 games close together and then a hard trip down to Arsenal, I would consider using Pedders in one of these games.

I will always remember his goals at Leeds and Chelsea. As long as the ball was in front of him on his left foot Henrik wasn't a bad player. He could still do it at Championship level. Perhaps he will take the well trodden route to Wiggin. Good luck Henrik.

That's why I have always backed Stelios, what he may lack in some areas he makes up for with ten goals a season (until this year)

Without doubt Peders has scored some valuable goals for us, I personally thought he always looked out of his depth and should be black and blue with pinching himself at the fact he was playing in the premier league. I do take some humour in his 'showbiz tantrum' from Denmark, such an average player with so little to offer this season shouting the odds makes me laugh. Fair play to him, they'll be beating his door down come June.

dont like to mix with players but on the pre-season malta tour went to a night club with a group of bolton fans bumped into the bolton team a few were stand offish laville bought the lads a couple of bottles of JD and pedersen actually left the team party and came with us onto a few bars in the early morning, belting bloke and just one of the lads, never let us down despite his lack of real top quality, I wish him the best in whatever he does.

He's living the dream in my opinion, top bloke.

it would laso be nice if sam could handle this in such a way that he gets a chance to say goodbye, the club moves on and players will leave but the fact that bruno, jay-jay and youri just disappeared is not a way to treat players who have given something special to the club, henric might not be the quality of jay-jay and youri but he has been part of a special part of the clubs history so i hope sam can treat him the dignity he deserves.

bear in mind, the goal at leeds was quality, the goal at chelsea was an own goal - henrik scored plenty of good goals, the one against chelsea wasn't one of them, because he didn't score it

Can I add here that not only would I have not offered him a new contract I would have also docked his feckin? wages for a week for not fulfilling his employees duties; ie: tackling, passing, heading, kicking a ball, speaking to team members and ultimately breaking all employees rules by taking a 35 minute fag break. The only saving grace in all this is that I no longer have to listen to myself every time he?s selected sounding like Victor Meldrew with PMT.

I've shared many drinks with Peddy in the Bobs Smithy after matches and he is a top bloke, he really is. I've lay under a lot worse than his missus an' all.

 

Unfortunately, everyone knows deep down that he's punching above his weight in the Prem. As much as I've enjoyed his goals against Arsenal et al, there have been times when I wouldn't have picked him for sunday league.

 

It is time to say goodbye and thanks for the memories I'm afraid with no hard feelings.

Pedersen is one of my favourite players for his loyality he has shown to our club.
