Traf Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 It's the last place I'd want to visit: an English bar with English beer at English prices, run by two self-pitying Scouse bastards.

I was searching for some photos but I wasn't able to find good ones. Here are some: As Alex said, you'll be on 10 to 15 minutes walk from here to the stadium
Smiley Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Jumbo - how do they serve kebabs in Skopje? (please tell me they wrap them up with chips/fries)
JumboMkd Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Jumbo - how do they serve kebabs in Skopje?(please tell me they wrap them up with chips/fries) Nope, the kebaps are not wrapped with chips (although you can find some small fast foods that do that), but you can order hamburger and it is served wrapped with fries.
SatanGreavsie Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Jumbo - how heavy handed are the police? If we all get completely battered (ie drunk), hang flags from everywhere and have a sing song, will we get grief? Because that's what we'll be doing....

Last time when England played Macedonia, the area with the bars in the center of Skopje (the one mentioned above) was full with English fans and by full I mean really full (only the bartenders were Macedonians ) The flags were hanging all over and they were all singing songs. There was a lot police there but they were just standing around. You will not have problems with the police by just hanging around, drinking and singing

You're making a big mistake if you think that the McDonald's hamburgers are better than ours Let me suggest you a hamburger from the fast food called "7" (sedmica-seven) and I can bet with you that you'll never want to go again in McD. or Burger King :p
ex_midlandwhite Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Gutted. 1 spare flight, hotel and coach to Skopje if anyone wants it! And what about climbing up 10 foot high fountains at 2 in the morning??

Alexander The Great Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 What local food specialities would you recommend? No offal suggestions please. Tavce Gravce (beans in a skillet) - it involves boiling the beans first and then mixed with onion, peppers, tomato, oil, flour and various spices baked in a pottery saucepan. Burek - a kind of baked pasta with meet, macedonian cheese (white brined cheese), spinach or pizza. Taratur - is a cold soup (or a liquid salad). it is made from yoghurt, cucumbers, garlic, nuts, dill, vegetable oil, and water. Mekici - fried lumps of dough Pindzur - is a spicy relish made with tomatoes, aubergines, peppers, onion, garlic, black pepper, vegetable oil, sugar and salt. the famous Kebap and other things. we really have a big list of meals. there is also a pizza Macedonia that contains more stuff than any other known pizza.
Exiled Girl Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Ta v much. Sounds good - not bad for vegetarians then. Shall make a note of this.
JumboMkd Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Ta v much. Sounds good - not bad for vegetarians then. Shall make a note of this. Vegetarians? There aren't much vegetarians over here. Alex forgot to mention the "all kinds of barbecue and meet prepared on 100 ways" The Balkans are known for the meet. There are small cheep barbecue restaurants on every corner. I will suggest you the "Sharska pleskavica"
JumboMkd Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Now, if you weren't easily offended, I'd have made a wisecrack about Yak dung patties but, as you are a little sensitive, I won't A few litres of Skopso heading your way I'm not easily offended, but you have to understand that I don't understand 100% English and I can't understand all of your English jokes
Smiley Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 there a whole river right next to the square and theres a big stone bridge over it how many boxes of washing powder do you think we'll need to get some kind of reaction from the river?
