Megson Impresses Staff

From what ive heard there was a staff meeting this afternoon for a couple of hours and Megson was very impressive apparantly. They were all suprised how much he knew, he knew all the systems and his knowledge was very impressive. He said something along the lines that "ive had bad results in the past but we all have, ive never had many quality players to work with in the past but there are plenty at this club and theres no way we will be getting relegated from this division".

Fair play to him, if he comes out in public and says something similar, he'll get respect from me.

Get on early on Sunday. The new manager may have microphone in hand.

Anybody else heard the report that the only non board member on the selection commitee was Megsons agent, hence Sourness withdrawing from the management "race" ?

I read that in the Times a couple of days ago:

"Although interested at the time, Souness distanced himself from the job yesterday after hearing nothing from Bolton over the weekend. The Scot also cited his reluctance to become involved in a battle with Megson, whom he perceived to be represented by Mark Curtis, the agent charged by Bolton with helping them to find a new manager."

Should we really have people like mark curtis working with the club?

The clubs new version of Craig Allardyce!

good start getting the staff on side , as he said the players weve got shouldnt get us releagated

if the board of bwfc are in such a state that they cant pick a new manager without recieving help from an "impartial" source then i would suggest they are in the wrong job and maybe a carear change would be good?

same is happening at the FIA, there getting a team of "consultants" to over see the appointment of the next leader of the vendegome! the worlds gone mad! people who put themselves in real football power jobs are now too scared to put the names on anything they do!

"just for the record i have nothing against mark curtis, the board of bwfc, the FIA,and indeed vendegome. there all smashing!"

:D

I thought him being in the dug out last night was a good thing!

I didnt see but i fully expect that he was in the dressing room and was part of the full pre match day without getting fully involved!

Was saying to my mate last night - even though knox was in charge, Megson would have had an input as to what he wanted.

I just hope that input wasnt McCann and Speed in Midfield

and more Davo as Captain !

According to Archie Knox he didn't have any input or at least didnt say a single word whist sat in the dugout.

Interview: Bolton caretaker boss Archie Knox.

Easily pleased Carlos, easily pleased. He'll need to get 3 straight wins to change my mind, not a few pleasantries.

im not bothered if i get banned for this. Its a testing time for all Bolton fans we agree on that but you are a total prick now jog on please! for the last two days you have talked utter shiiite and you are pissing some people right off.

Now Megson by now knows the size of the task in hand now after a poor performance last night on the pitch and the unrest between the fans and the board for appointing him.

It cut deep with me last night to see the unrest that we are experiencing at the present moment.

Now put yourself in Megsons shoes. Your at Leicester, Bolton come along. A established premier league side with a trip to Bayern Munich coming up in two weeks and a hell of a lot more money in his pocket at the end of the week!

Its a no brainer its human nature that you would take a job with more money!

Now the fans last night vented their anger at Megson (i pressume you where one of them) which imo was bang out of order

he has only done what everybody in the stadium last night would have done. Took a job which was better than his previous. Yes get on Gartsides back if you want but ffs you cant change who the manager is. If you are a bolton fan you will get behind whoever is in charge (apart from Souness obviously :D )

Im with Carlos when Megson gets unvieled before the match on Sunday he will get my full support! If he comes out in the press and acknoledges the task in hand then fair play to him.

I am not happy with the appointment tbh but i cant change a thing! he gets my full backing

He said Megson would get his respect, nowhere does it say he would be pleased. Also what if gets 3 straight wins and then loses the next 25 or so premieship matches?

do you think alan sugar would be capable of making that decision on his own first and foremost? i certainly do? or else he wouldnt be in the position to surround himself by like minded individuals.

now the same question directed to the board of bwfc? no didn't think so.

most organisations use external help when there dealing with specialist recruitment drives, into areas there not particularly au fait with themselves.

there is a big difference between making a decision by committee and putting someone else in the firing line so when it goes tits up you can just point the finger at them.

i was recruited by an external agency, as i was brought in to do something new that our company had no experience in, but the ultimate decision came down to my current boss.

now, you would have though that board members of a football club would have some experience in lets say? "football"?

i can see your point though, but no matter how much we discuss stuff like this its going to take a lot more to paper over the cracks of inadequacy.

Frankly that's bollocks.

The most successful organisations in the world use specialists to hire folk into important roles irrespective of their knowledge of the marketplace.

Trust me I know.

Stand up that man and take a bow!

Good post Mr Hughes

spot on! headhunters - used in every industry.

I also know for a FACT Mark Curtis is not the agent of Gary Megson and was working independently.

However, he is the agent of another manager in the EPL.

He use to be his agent.
