imo campo and davies SHOULD be in the team this season, but only because we have nobody better (but the same is for the whole starting xi obviously)

but next season, if we are to improve these are key area's that need strengthening.

and if campo and davies are casualties then so be it.

Disagree, personally, more on Davies than Campo though

Davies is important to us. He won't be prolific, but he'll get a few if he's played as centre forward.

But we need someone else to play with Davies and Diouf. Taylor is not the answer there. He's a good player, and good on the set pieces, but not effective in that position. We want someone who can contribute 10 goals.

Then a replacement for Campo, simply because of his age.

And either sign and get improvement from Guthrie, or find a new midfielder. For a player of his type, Guthrie does not have enough end product for me. But maybe he'll start to produce and then we'll have a player on our hands.

I remember saying similar things about MacAteer, and after a few years of adjusting from Marine reserves to first team action he was outstanding for us. Sign Guthrie and let him progress for the next 2 years, tho it wont happen if we go down, but I think he is gonna be a gud un.

My original thread still stands........he couldn't hit a barn door from 6 yards. However, people like him on here for his work ethic...well, he gave the bal away and wasn't chasing back, he won about a third of the headers and was two man marked, his knock downs weren't picked up by other bolton players.....our best chances came from diagonal balls into their areas, and both times a half decent striker would have been there for the rebounds.

Teams have us figured out, IF we go down i'd rather it be fighting, with two pacey strikers upfront running at the defence, AND we would have to actually stop lumping the ball up and hoping for scraps

I agree with you on yesterdays performace, I thought his attempt at goal when Reina gifted him the ball 25 yards out was pathetic. It isnt his fault like against Blackburn that he is 2 man marked, however he had the same terrible body langiuage as the rest of the team 2nd half yesterday. The most worrying thing for me about the last 2 games is that for the last half hour on both occasions we actually gave up. Its a long time since I last thought that.

davies is seriously low on confidence.

thoughts of "no red ginger else is running so why should i?" are definatley in his head.

Solution is to play Rasiak or Helguson

Aye, back to the original point alright -

Your solution was to play someone injured, or Rasiak.

Well you got your wish on one of those, and that was a stunning success, wasn't it.

Maybe next time we try the injured player instead

Kevin Davies is probably the best target man in the division. The problem is that now the players don't seem to have the will fitness or instruction to get into the box & join him as was the case when Sam had us.

We can't pass the ball forward because we have 10 men behind the ball & no-one makes a positive run!

Nolan Diouf Campo & even Taylor have little pace & can only perform for 15 minutes.

Megson has to be 100% positive & if his current midfielders can't get around the pitch with energy then try Andranik & Cohen.

It showed how much we missed Guthrie's legs & how he has been shielding Nolan with his sheer lack of pace & stamina.

I feel sorry for Davies -I wish the rest gave the same commitment!!

Unfortunately Campo is our only playpaker & we will need to offer cover for him.

At the end of the day Anelka should still be here & with 20 goals under his belt Chelsea would have given ?20m for him & we would have been safe.

Point being change the frontman, pick your own strikers but without Davies, as all teams need to do (and do), is put two men on him all day, as we only play one upfront.

And as for Rasiak....typical bolton supporter response, the guy has played what say nearly one full match and he is crap....Davies has played 31 matches (inc cups) scored 3 goals oh and for all you people who think he creates, the player with the most assists is.......Diouf with 6
