Sweep Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 But while it's a long way from mathematically certain we'll hope ... 4pts adrift of Birmingham, and 7 of Sunderland.................I don't see us making them points back
ex_midlandwhite Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 But just looking at the Arsenal celebrations on SSN shows how hard it seems we pushed them.
trotter58 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 How the hell did that happen?! I f**king well give up.
xxxxxx Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I don't how people can still think we can stay up after throwing a 2-0 lead away against 10 men. Not to mention, we couldn't even beat a 10 men Wigan side, and couldn't even beat Man City, who got totally outplayed against Birmingham today.
trotter58 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 4pts adrift of Birmingham, and 7 of Sunderland.................I don't see us making them points back To be honest that was always on the cards but it's the way we lost today that might have finished us off.
xxxxxx Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 But just looking at the Arsenal celebrations on SSN shows how hard it seems we pushed them. No. They are celebrating like that because they were 2-0 down with only 10 men for most of the match, yet came back to win the game. I couldn't give a fu.ck about performance, it's 3 points I care about.
xxxxxx Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 (edited) Positive Matt Taylor Scores 2 Goals. Means nothing if it got us nothing. It still doesn't make up for the million chances he's missed since he's signed for us. Edited March 29, 2008 by xxxxxx
momomo Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Need a positive from the worst result ever at the Reebok.
Campos_Wig Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Need a positive from the worst result ever at the Reebok. Im still in shock. The only positive would be the removal of Megson from his position.
Rembrandt Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Im still in shock. The only positive would be the removal of Megson from his position. Quite. The usual cautious line-up & bench, with two defensive/holding midfielders, we get 2-0 up with 30 mins to go and and he still can't organise them to win against 10 men. Unbelievable genius. But just what most thought when he was appointed.

What's the point of keeping him on next season? In the unlikely event that he brings us straight back, he's already proved that he just isn't good enough to keep a team in the Premier League.

I agree For all these defensive players he's bought and his negative tactics,as soon as his team are put under pressure they concede goals. Aston Villa at home,Blackburn at home,Arsenal at home.Home games where we went 1-0 up but only ended up with one point from a possible 9. His forwards aren't Premier League standard but his team isn't good enough defensively either.
Casino Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 2-0 up, and we went at em, didn't sit back as no doubt somebody will say we did missed a few more as per we then conceded a corner their first kick of the second half we have everybody back - not a fan, but i'll tolerate it - and nobody bothers to mark gallas i'm not impressed we don't have a man on the back post either the penalty -my angle, he clearly played the ball anyway, lets not kid ourselves, if arsenal had scored 10 it'd have been fair enough BUT at 2-0 against 10 men you should be good enough to win fact is, our players let it slip AGAIN not the manager, not davies, not gartside, not nicky hunt and not julian darby the passing second half was shocking
Sweep Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 fact is, our players let it slip AGAIN not the manager, not davies, not gartside, not nicky hunt and not julian darby It's a very good point, as much as people will say Megson should go(and I agree he should) it shouldn't be forgotten the team managed to squander two goal lead - perhaps some of those players should be shown the door as well. When you need points as much as we do, that is unforgiveable, if we had been idling in mid-table with nothing to play for, then I would be able to understand it, but not when we are supposed to be "fighting for our lives"
Carlos Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I thought at 2, we should have sat back, with hindsight our centre back shouldn't be pushing up for a third. For the penalty, I thought the ball was gone, Cahill dived in unnecessarily when there wasn't much danger - AGAIN.

trotter58 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 fact is, our players let it slip AGAIN not the manager, not davies, not gartside, not nicky hunt and not julian darby Every single manager in the league faces these problems. Our squad is no worse than any of the teams immediately above us and yet Steve Coppell, Roy Keane (in only his second season as a manager), Alex McCleish and even Steve Bruce seem able to get a performance out of their teams when it really matters. Do you think that any of the teams mentioned would have let a two-goal lead slip today?! THAT'S why Megson is ultimately responsible!
Carlos Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 What worries me most, and I eluded to it before, that after all this time in the Prem and all the millions of pounds that have gone through the club that we put Nicky Hunt on at right-wing, either because none of the other many professionals drawing a decent wage for the club are good enough for the first time or that manager lost the plot.
HAPPY SHOP PIG Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 made me laugh this post, folk who obviously hadn`t bothered going saying now they give up

bwfc2003 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 made me laugh this post, folk who obviously hadn`t bothered going saying now they give up Its amazing how many comments we get between 2.30 and 5.30. How the fcuk do all these people get their lap tops into the reebok!!
Happy Wanderer Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I'm sorry, but all this keeps going back to January in the fact we did not replace our only striker. If we would have had a 'good' striker up front today he would have kept Arsenal more on their toes at the back. What happened? They take off a central defender because we had no threat up front. Thus the pressure turned on us and our defence. Megson has no idea.
Guest TonyCee Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 made me laugh this post, folk who obviously hadn`t bothered going saying now they give up Perhaps we saw the writing on the wall many weeks ago Perhaps we didnt want to waste ?30+ pounds watching a team who couldnt give a flying fcuk. Perhaps you didnt.
