Jussi Signs!

Bye Bye Al-Habsi :cray:

Bugger, I was really looking forward to Al-Habsi between the sticks as he gave me more confidence.

Don't get me wrong the Finn is a good keeper, I just think Al-Habsi has more to offer and is a 'better' all round keeper.

couldnt agree more

Do we have to go through all this again? :bang:

Here is one for the anoraks, I believe that Jussi is currently on about 350 appearances for BWFC, if he plays for another 4 years, he could easily take this to 500 appearances..............where would this stand in the all time appearances list for the club, it must be up near the top.

George, Sluffy, anybody......................?

Puts him upto bout tenth, Eddie Hopkinson is leading the way on 578.
578 games and no goals, he must have been rubbish............................

Hopky was a legend and a gentleman. Don't see folk in the crowd mimicking every move of Al Habsi and Jussi (well, a lot do shout 'fcuk off' so i suppose Jussi almost qualifies).

Personally, I would prefer to keep Al Habsi over Jussi.

Why are we all assuming AAH is going?

Weren't the gossip columns suggesting we have offered him a new 4 year deal?

AAH should be confident of displacing Jussi as no. 1 within a year or two - I don't see any decent Prem team buying him as their no.1 yet, so surely he is better staying with us - assuming he is happy with the UK and sees the Prem as the best league to play in.

Not quick enough!!!!

Amazing how many players on that list we subject to the boo boys..roy greaves, jimmy philips, peter nicholson, jules etc etc.

Ned Ryerson?

"Watch out for that first step, it's a doozy!" :good:

Agree, bet nobody was interested in him.

Strange how he's changed his mind now that we're safely remaining in the Premier League. We wouldn't have seen him for dust if we'd have gone down.

think you can say that about most of our squad

Four...years ! Four....??... Years ? (to be said in the tone of Peter Kays "Garlic Bread" ) AND a testimonial.

What an agent that guy has. What a favour BWFC have done for him. I only hope Al Habsi can be persuaded to stay.

What would you have done that the club hasn't? Bearing in mind you have no control over the free will of Ali Al Habsi, who can pay up his contract and leave if he feels like it.

And a large portion of our 'fans'

I am speechless on this matter.

I will get down on my knees (in Jussi style) and prey Al Habsi stays too.

We wouldn't have seen him for dust if anyone wanted him!

Well I wouldnt have give him four years. And I would have made sure Al Habsi had no reason to pay up his contract. He`s a far, far better keeper than Jussi. If Jussi`s our number one next season, expect another long hard slog.

Now then, I think it's generally accepted that I'm not Jussi's biggest fan, BUT....................

up till last season he had performed fantastically well for us and I'm beginning to think that all the rumours about him leaving and his agent's failure to agree a new deal, may have affected his concentration levels and ultimately his performances.

On song, Jussi's one of the league's top 3 keepers. Now he's staying, we need to back him and hope for a speedy return to form.

I don't think it's fair to say he is a "far, far better keeper" than Jussi, just based on the 15 or so appearances he has made for the club. It shouldn't be forgotten that Jussi has been consitantly good for a vast period of time. As Traf mentions, now his contratc is sorted, hopefully he will get back to his best.

I agree that Al Habsi appears to be a good keeper, but I'm not sure if he is definitely better than Jussi, if he is/was wouldn't he have displaced Jussi on merit?

No he hasnt been consistently good. He has shot stopped well, yes, but all keepers do that, its a natural reaction. He was blessed with a hard to break down ten men in front of him prior to last season, and when they didnt perform ie Middlesborough away the season before ( 5-1?) all his deficiencies were exposed. He has no presence in his area, he squats on his line at set pieces/cosses from the wings, he doesnt organise his defence , opposing players can sit him on his arse with the first drop of a shoulder on a one on one, and his kicking, well...

If he was a top keeper like his agent would like people to believe, he would have been seriously sought after and would have left us. But I`ll take back one of the "far"s.
