globaldiver Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 why no riga from the start????? Instead of?
Matherbwfc Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Instead of? Take McCann out and put riga in on the left or right. McCann is terrible why does he play him
Tombwfc Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 (edited) McCann had a good game today. Take McCann out of that side for Riga and we'd have been four down by half time. I like what i've seen of Riga, but he can't defend to save his life, and thats why he wasn't included today. Edited September 27, 2008 by Tombwfc

I do think that Riga could be given a start, in midfield, as he has plenty of energy. Best player today? Gardner, couldn't understand why he was withdrawn.

Zico Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 thought we did well today and the starting XI was the right one Muamba and Jussi were the stand out players for me don't think Megson did anything wrong today by finishing the game playing 4-3-3 megson went up in my estimation but now we've got to get results against west ham and blackburn if we approach it like we did today, then we should get at least 3 points from the next 2
Traf Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Jlloyd Samuel got the man of the match on Setanta Ireland.
Manny Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Jlloyd Samuel got the man of the match on Setanta Ireland. They probably felt sorry for him giving away the pen.

United were disjointed and were there for the taking, davies should have started up top he is in top form scoring goals and a right handful yet megson chooses to put elmander up top who does not have the physical presence or pace to worry them, if he wanted to play Elmander central, he should have gone 4-4-2, dropped Mcann who did have a decent game, but why buy a young mobile defensive midfielder if you do not trust him todo the job on his own, Riga could then of started pushing there full backs back and giving us an outlet ball when under pressure, then Megson had a second and trd chance at getting the formation right and chose the wrong options, vaz te and smolarek were vrtually annonymous, as you rightly say at least he is having a go switching to 4-3-3, in my eyes if we had played a more attacking formation earlier would not have had to throw caution to the wind in the last 20 minutes trying to play catch up.
Mounts Kipper Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 and contrast the formation phil brown set out at Arsenal he played 2 up top and 1 in behind, these type of games you have very little to lose, sitting back hoping to sneak out of these games with a point is suicide, what a shame we did not give Phil Brown the nod that he would of replaced Allardyce.
HomerJay Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 apart from the open goal miss, i thought muamba was superb, stayed in his feet but strong the in the tackle, powerfull running with the ball well and kept possession better than previous games. more of the same lad!
Horwich Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 His shot into the top tier of the stretford end was alreet.

Agree with all that We played well, had started to put together some breaks, but the penalty changed the game. That said we were too defensive and it just invites pressure IMO.
