Fans safer at the Reebok

FANS watching Bolton Wanderers will be safer thanks to a new 40 camera CCTV system which can transmit via the internet.

 

Images of problems or trouble can be sent to police or club personnel and accessed via PDAs or terminals either remotely or locally.

 

The CCTV system, which will eventually number 100 cameras, was installed by IT security specialist Network Defence and helps security and health and safety officials to scan parts of the ground previously out of sight.

 

The company says the new system enhances levels of security and safety for fans and employees during match days.

 

Dave Atkinson, IT manager for BWFC, said: ?The new cameras not only capture any anti-social or dangerous behaviour but also act as a deterrent to those intending to behave in such a manner ? this helps to increase levels of security in and around the stadium.

 

?Since their installation the cameras have already proven their worth by capturing incidents, which have been invaluable in helping us resolve security issues.?

Football support was taken from the football fan 15 years ago.

 

We've been here a thousand times before.

 

The ONLY way to make a difference is a law abiding protest of abstinence from the game or, God forbid, banners.

I give up, I truly do. I've been to the very vast majority of all games played at the Reebok since it opened and what the fook has there there been in terms of real incidents in all that time? The sum total of everything that has happened in its entire history would equate to one rather boisterous Burnden game in the late 70s. Absolute fooking bogwank

UK is the most camered place in the world, even Birmingham fans who came in the Balmoral for a drink for a game at Burnden, looked amazed at them on the lamposts on Bradshawgate in the 80s

Looking back I remember the first CCTV camera at Burnden Park, corner of Manny Road/Embankment.

 

Some daft tw@ts tried to cut the mains to it after a sesh one Friday night before the match the following day, think Boro.

 

Wasn't me guv bit I know who did, nearly killed themselves.

 

I think the club should be applauded for this.

It will now be much safer to take the family along.

And I won't have to pass through a mob of unruly teenagers and their cloud of smoke in the toilets now.

You know, I have often wondered if netball would get popular to the point where 20000 wimmin would watch it in a stadium every week.

 

I reckon I could watch that, being outnumbered by 20 to 1.

Just a thought..........when this full system is installed, does that mean the club will then be able to reduce the number of Police that are required for each home game? - surely if everything is being monitored from a central location, then they could get away with fewer ploice in the ground. If this was the case, then long temr the CCTV would save the club money - to be honest, I don't give a toss either way if they have 100 cameras or 1000 cameras in the ground, as generally I'm not doing anything wrong

they've had loads of cameras at the reebok since it was built. there's at least 40 looking at the stands alone (i know theres about 10 in each corner)

I didn't know that Carlos, that just seems a bit outrageous. If it's potentially going to be used for that sort of thing, then I withdraw my previous statement.

If you mean the smooking then fair enough, but I sit in ESL, which the club see as the chav/rough bit and rarely see unprovoked problems. If the cctv makes the orange boys more aware their actions are being monitored then maybe it could be a positive thing. Though, somehow I doubt it.

i meant problem area's that the club and police will have identified from 11yrs of experience.

 

i very much doubt they''l be on top of the existing ones there won't be the space, rather better and more advanced replacements for a system that'll be out of date by now.

The only incident this season was that Liverpool fan in the box next to Nolan's family in the ESL trying to incite me and other Boltons fans below.

 

Would these CCTV cameras have stopped this.Not a chance,even the steward did nothing but a load of innocent Bolton fan would have got chucked out for doing nothing
