I'm not to despondent with this result, Sam would have battered his team at half time to get them motivated into a stiring second half performance. This is a game he needed a result in after all that was said in the press this week.

For someone who slept through there alarm and missed the game how did the new guys perform (Makukula (who incidentally got MOTM on the bbc website) and young Davis) are there any promising signs from either?

Megson constantly told the players not to sit deep

or are you purposely ignoring this?

Whats that about letting facts get in the way of a good rant??

We had the first half, they had the second. Tactics were spot on to start with and not many teams 2-0 up go all-or-nothing for a third. Players low on confidence after conceding one, naturally drop back -- that's just the way it is. Before the game we would've took it, and it's gutting to drop it at the last minute, yes, but some perspective please twatos.

All this Megson's a wanker and Sam's the Messiah bollocks has to stop.

How short-term is your memory?

How often did an Allardyce team lead 2-0 at half time away from home?

What 2nd half tactics did he employ in those rare games?

I can't actually remember how many times it happened under Sam, but I do know that he virtually always sent us into defensive mode when leading away from home.

FWIW, only a blind man could have failed to see Megson constantly urging the defence to move 10 yards forward and close the gap between themselves and our largely ineffective central midfield.

If going back to Allardyce is the answer, then it's a very stupid question.

How much of the shit we served up in the second half was due to the massive improvement in Blackburn - especially after their double change?

They got sent out early, obviously after the tea cup throwing of FSA at half time and got into us straight away.

Megson was trying to get us up the field from very early in the second half but Rovers had upped their game and kept us pinned in.

What Megson could have done better with was the change. Nolan and Taylor were dead on their feet, either one should have been replaced by Gardner with the simple instruction to stretch their defence and at least give us an outlet ball.

It was a classic game of two-halves. A point would have been acceptable before the game.

Sums up everything I was gonna post and say.

Blackburn were awful first half - so the 2nd half assault was fully expected.

They took off a midfielder and a defender and put on a midfielder and a forward. Thus their intentions were to "go for it" being 2-0 down. And rightly so. Therefore we had to expect some pressure - which in the main we handled very well. The first goal was, on the face of it, a goalkeeping mistake - but Warnock's simple run cut out two of our players and was worrying in the fact that neither of them could track back with him and cut out his threat.

Second goal looked like a typical scramble around the box and we just didn't win the crucial header that lead up to it.

Tugay is a player who (not dissimilar to Scholes) who can come on and dictacte midfield by dropping deep and picking up the ball. If we'd have man-marked him and closed him down, then we could have lessened the pressure considerably - so the question is - who's fault is that? We were also saying it before Tugay had starting pulling the strings as he's got previous - so surely Megson should have known this and countered it?

It was also blatantly obvious we needed Gardner on to take the pressure off and give us an outlet going forward - but we never saw him.

SKD was having a blinder in a deeper role and possibly our switch to bring on Mark Davies and therefore push SKD forward actually worked against us.

Pat on the back for Mike Dean - okay fcked up on the penalty - but he allowed SKD to play his natural game with some crunching-but-fair-tackles and never once felt the need to brandish a yellow card in his face. Other refs would have given SKD an early bath for some of those tackles last night.

We sat far too deep 2nd half and got punished..

Megson was urging the defence out at every opportunity.

id have taken a point before the game. Last night was a cant lose not a must win.

Satday however is slightly different!

From where i was sat (or stood) :D to the right off the goals it seeemed a good few thousand were singing Megson is a W@nker.

Not help no one that.

p.s Fair play to the whole of the Darwen end for standing for the whole 90mins :good: was a refreshing change

We're crying out for someone who can slow the game down and pick out a pass in the middle of the park. Fair play to Basham last night, he ran all over the pace, but intelligent midfield player he ain't. And Nolan certainly isn't. Or indeed Muamba (although he has other merits). The difference in Blackburn when Tugay came on was remarkable.

If I was Veloso and saw a tape of that game, I'd double my wage demands.

Hypothetical question then would a different manager won the game after half time, by using the substitutes in a different way? Im not Megson bashing thats been done enough.

nobody knows

and thats why us idiots on here can get away with pontificating about what he should've done

Yes and No.

I am not sure why Megson made that change last night. Davies has only been at the club 2 minutes, spent most the season out of the Wolves team and suddenly gets thrown in the deep end in a Lancashire derby that we had lost the control of.

Gardner was the obvious change but Megson (or is that his ex-Wolves assistant) didn't choose it.

I agree Yatesy. Gardner should of been brought on around the 60th Minute.

I wasnt too impressed with the new French defender either but I know its his 1st game

Far too calm and assured was he? I've seen enough. Classier than owt we've had in that position for a while. If Shittu or AOB get picked before a fit Puygrenier, I will be very disappointed.

I'd agree with Bolty on that, looks like a good aquisition, maybe he wonders what he's walked in to! :pardon:

On matters football related I usually agree with Bolty 100% and this time it's no different. Having only managed two matches this season against city and wigan I don't think I'm qualfied to pass judgement on the team and manager to the extent that those who go watching week in and week out can. But the level of frustration here tells me that what I watched against Wigan is proving to be the norm with a sluggish, imobile midfield and not having the players to see out a game or create enough chances.

For what its worth, Megon has to stay until the end of the season at the very least. The trouble is, and where the frustration comes from is not that he's a complete joke as a top flight manager but that he's just very average and whatever your thoughts on Sam and his tatical nouse he is an exciting manager, bit of a wide boy transfer market dealer and enthuses his players with a verve that doesn't offer respect to your opponents no matter how mighty or what the scoreline is.

I agree sacking Megson before the end of the season has little point and I'm not his biggest fan..

Also can anyone name a manager that is available at the moment that could do better.

We know he lacks charisma and has little or no time for the BWFC fans but whilst he is our manager he will get mine and junior's support.

Anyone would think we are 12 points adrift at the bottom.

There at least 12 teams not feeling comfortable with 15 games to go..

Let's have a little perspective boys and girls

Keep the faith. :drinks:

I 'm sick of asking the very same question, but the moaners never give a answer, they just wnat to get rid of Megson with no thought to who we bring in, if they could give a names then we could have a commnets on there choices but they no more fuck idea about that then they have about fooball

Spot on.

Megson took over a bag of shite, the reminents of Sam's last season and Sammy Lee's self-destructing 6 months.

The team is unrecognisable from the rubbish he took over but these changes take time. To throw all that away now is just utterly daft. We over achieved for those 4 seasons of top 8 finishes under Sam - an annual scrap to beat the drop is what we are. Get used to it and support the boys.

Somne times he seemed out of position though

Not the players fault but Mr Megson is the most negative manager i have ever seen at B.W.F.C in my 34 years of watching my beloved club!

In what way would Allardyce's tactics from 2-0 up at half time have differed from Megsons?

None whatsoever. I've mentioned this myself elsewhere.

and we were bottom when he took over...

I know. It's a fcuking disgrace. French c'unt. He must have had over 100 minutes on the pitch with our team and should know our complete system by now. You're right - drop the poorly positioned froggie tosser; sack Megson; sack the board; sack Ridding; demolish Burnden Park.

I should have listened to you before.

I had to re-read LH's post.

Originally I thought he'd typed Somme times he seemed out of position.

Well, it is a battle sometimes.

Disappointed by Wednesday night's second half performance.

First half thought we passed it around well, got the ball in their box and kept the pressure on. The second half we seemed to sit deeper and deeper which wasn't all Megson's doing. He was stood in the technical area screaming at them to get out but the players weren't listening and to be fair Blackburn were pushing us back.

Thought his substitution bringing the lad Davies on was a big mistake though. He took Basham out of middle where he was doing a decent job and put Davies in there - it is a hell of a step up from League 1 in a pressure game. I would have brought Gardner on and swapped Taylor to right, gives us a bit more of an attacking threat and he is about the only player in the clbu with a bit of pace.

Still, I'd have taken a draw before the game started :D
